Roche to Acquire GenMark Diagnostics for $24.05 Per Share in All-Cash TransactionRoche will fully acquire GenMark Diagnostics at a price of $24.05 per share in an all-cash transaction, representing a total equity value of approximately $1.8 billion on a fully diluted basis. Upon completion of the acquisition, GenMark’s core operations will continue at its current location in Carlsbad, California, USA. GenMark Diagnostics' portfolio of syndrome test kits will complement Roche's existing molecular diagnostics offerings, while Roche's global network will expand the reach of GenMark's products.
GenMark’s ePlex system enhances laboratory efficiency through a streamlined order-to-report workflow and improves patient outcomes by enabling rapid diagnosis of symptoms. Infectious diseases are a leading cause of death globally, and early detection of infection has been shown to improve patient outcomes and support key hospital initiatives such as antibiotic stewardship and reducing hospital stays. GenMark’s Respiratory Pathogen Panel identifies the most common viral and bacterial microorganisms associated with upper respiratory infections, including SARS-CoV-2, complementing Roche's broad portfolio of COVID-19 diagnostic solutions.
