Dyno Therapeutics, Inc. is a biotechnology company leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to advance in vivo gene delivery. The company today announced a second research collaboration with Roche.Developing Next-Generation Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) Vector Gene Therapies for Neurological Disorders.Dyno and Roche previously announced a research collaboration and licensing agreement in October 2020 targeting neurological diseases and liver-directed therapies. Under this new collaboration agreement, Dyno Therapeutics will further provide its leading platform and sequence design technology to Roche, facilitating in vivo gene delivery.

Existing gene therapies primarily use a limited variety of natural adeno-associated virus vectors, but these vectors are limited by low delivery efficiency and face challenges such as the presence of neutralizing antibodies against these vectors in patients and difficulties in manufacturing. To overcome these challenges,Dyno Therapeutics, Inc. is the first to apply artificial intelligence and high-throughput in vivo data collection technology to the engineering modification of AAV capsids, aiming to improve tissue targeting, immune escape, and manufacturing capabilities.Dyno’s LEAPSM technology has the capability to perform billions of sequence-function assays in animals each month, accelerating capsid optimization to improve therapeutic success rates.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Dyno will be responsible for designing and discovering entirely new AAV capsids with improved functional properties. Roche will conduct capsid validation studies and advance multiple preclinical, clinical, and commercialization activities for neurogene therapy candidates that utilize innovative capsids developed by Dyno. Roche will pay Dyno an upfront fee of $50 million, with additional payments during the research phase, and potential payments totaling over $1 billion based on preclinical, clinical, and sales milestones.
