The competition was jointly organized by the National Medical Device Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, Tianjin Municipal Drug Administration, Xiqing District People's Government of Tianjin City, and Medical Device Innovation Network. It aims to promote innovation and development in the medical device industry, facilitate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into industrial applications, and accelerate the high-quality development of China's medical device industry.
NewMed, with its self-developed Mi-thos system, stood out among numerous innovative finalist projects due to its exceptional innovation and prominent clinical applicability. This honor is not only a full recognition of NewMed's innovative achievements in the field of valve intervention but also a high acknowledgment of its cutting-edge exploration in promoting the innovation of domestically produced valve intervention devices.
The Mi-thos Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement System, independently developed by NewMed, is the first transcatheter mitral valve replacement innovation product in China to enter clinical trials and possess independent intellectual property rights. The research and development of this product participated in the "13th Five-Year Plan" key R&D program of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and received support from the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission's "Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan" in the biomedical field. It has passed the review of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and has been approved to enter the special review process for innovative medical devices, also known as the "green channel."
Currently, the multi-center confirmatory clinical study of Mi-thos mitral valve replacement is proceeding steadily to verify the safety and effectiveness of the product, providing more reliable and safe treatment options for Chinese clinicians in the field of mitral valve disease.
In the future, NewMed will leverage the platform of China's Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for display and exchange, continue to focus on the innovative R&D and industrial transformation of valve interventional medical devices, and constantly launch more new products with independent intellectual property rights and clinical application value. It aims to provide clinicians with more advanced and safer surgical solutions, promoting the diagnosis and treatment level of structural heart disease in China to a higher tier.
