On November 5, 2024, local time, Eli Lilly and Company announced that the research data of the non-covalent Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor pirtobrutinib (Jaypirca) will be presented at the 66th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and Exposition, to be held in San Diego from December 7 to 10. The drug had previously met its primary endpoint in the Phase 3 clinical trial BRUIN CLL-321.
Jaypirca is a highly selective non-covalent (reversible) inhibitor. It is used to treat adult patients with relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) who have received at least two prior systemic therapies, including a BTK inhibitor, or adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) who have previously received at least two lines of therapy, including a BTK inhibitor and a BCL-2 inhibitor.
Eli Lilly will report the results of the Phase 3 BRUIN CLL-321 study at ASH. The study is evaluating the efficacy of pirtobrutinib in combination with either idelalisib plus rituximab (IdelaR) or bendamustine plus rituximab (BR) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia or small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) who have been previously treated with a BTK inhibitor.Eli Lilly's submission of the conference abstract used data from February 2024, and the presentation will use data from August 2024.
In addition, Eli Lilly will present a poster sharing the analysis of real-world data, including overall survival related to the treatment sequence for CLL/SLL patients, as well as preclinical data on a first-in-class B-cell activating factor receptor (BAFF)-RxCD3 bispecific antibody for treating certain B-cell malignancies.
