The 7th China International Import Expo (hereinafter referred to as "CIIE") was grandly held in Shanghai. As a regular participant of CIIE, Medtronic arrived as scheduled this year with a series of significant intelligent products made in China. The debut highlights included Medtronic's first locally manufactured spinal surgery navigation and positioning system, Mazor™ XC, Kanghui Medtronic’s first domestically produced spinal surgery navigation system, EngineNav™ QíngHáng™, and Medtronic's first neurophysiological monitoring system manufactured in China, NIM-ECLIPSE™. Among them, Mazor™ XC was selected as an outstanding achievement of local innovation for display at the "Invest in China" exhibition area in the China Pavilion. Meanwhile, Kanghui Medtronic also showcased several key practice achievements in the development of new quality productivity, covering the local “quality” smart innovation ecosystem, clinical research plans targeting digital intelligence technology, and the overseas initiatives of products made in China. With multi-dimensional digital intelligence innovation, these efforts aim to boost the development of new quality medical productivity.

Digital Intelligence Leads the Way: Comprehensive Localization Promotes Chain-like Innovation in the Industry


The CIIE has always been a high-quality platform full of vitality and innovation. Over the years, Medtronic Kanghui has continuously brought globally cutting-edge innovative technologies, products, and solutions to China. Benefiting from the "spillover effects" of the CIIE, it has accelerated the promotion of many innovative achievements, represented by the star product MazorX™ Spine Surgery Robot, realizing the transformation from "exhibits" to "commodities" and from "global goodies" to "locally manufactured in China."

 

At this year's CIIE, Medtronic Kanghui unveiled three innovative locally-produced intelligent devices: the Mazor™ XC Spine Surgery Navigation and Positioning System, the EngineNav™ Spine Surgery Navigation System, and the NIM-ECLIPSE™ Neurophysiological Monitoring System. With a more diverse range of localized products, these innovations drive the localization of the AiBLE™ digital ecosystem, providing Chinese doctors and patients with diversified high-quality medical solutions. Notably, the Mazor™ XC has been developed and upgraded based on the imported Mazor X™ platform to better meet the needs and surgical habits of Chinese clinical practices, offering enhanced adaptability and compatibility. It received the domestically produced medical device registration certificate from the National Medical Products Administration on October 28 this year.

The above three locally innovative products are all from the Medtronic Kanghui Changzhou Science and Technology Park, jointly developed by Medtronic Kanghui and the Changzhou National High-Tech Zone. In the future, leveraging the park's comprehensive localization capabilities and industrial chain layout, Medtronic Kanghui will successively achieve the localized research, production, and innovation of a series of intelligent devices, including intraoperative navigation, intracranial pressure monitoring systems, and intraoperative neuromonitoring systems. This will form a full range of localized AiBLE™ digital and intelligent orthopedic and neurosurgery innovative ecosystem products. The industrialization of the AiBLE™ digital and intelligent ecosystem will drive local industries to achieve chain innovation and boost their digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading. Meanwhile, relying on the park’s four key functions — the Clinical Customer Center, Intelligent Manufacturing Center, Excellence R&D Center, and Innovation Incubation Center — Medtronic Kanghui will further expand and deepen industry-university-research-clinical collaborations. It will also accelerate the validation and incubation of innovative products, achieving clinical implementation and industrialization, continuously providing new momentum for the development of new quality productive forces through ongoing innovation.

 

Effective Implementation of Ecological Value Helps Clinical Services Improve in "New" and "Quality"


At the 6th CIIE, Medtronic, as an innovative leader in the medical technology field, took the lead in launching the "AiBLE™ Digital Intelligence Innovation Ecosystem," guiding the industry into a new era of digital intelligence powered by big data connectivity and AI. Over the past year, this ecosystem has achieved multiple clinical implementations, promoting the practical application of digital intelligence technology in Chinese clinics, empowering clinicians to effectively utilize "new quality technologies," and nurturing more "new quality talents." This, in turn, helps improve clinical outcomes and healthcare efficiency, providing patients with "new quality services."

 

To better support local medical decision-making in China and further accelerate the implementation of the AiBLE™ digital intelligence ecosystem's value, Medtronic Kanghui officially announced the AiBLE™ Digital Orthopedics Clinical Research Project plan at the CIIE with several leading hospitals. The project will focus on the characteristics of Chinese patients, using multi-center, segmented, prospective real-world data randomized controlled trials to demonstrate the multidimensional value of the digital orthopedics innovation ecosystem in clinical, economic, and patient aspects. It aims to enhance the development of high-quality intelligent spine surgery and boost academic influence, promoting the advancement of spinal surgery into the digital, intelligent, and minimally invasive era.

Professor Ma Xiaosheng, Director of the Department of Orthopedics at Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Professor Lian Xiaofeng, Director of the Department of Spinal Surgery at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, and Professor Wu Wenjian, Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Orthopedics at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, participated in this event and jointly released the AiBLE™ Intelligent Orthopedics Innovation Ecosystem Clinical Research Program Project with the leadership of Medtronic Greater China.
