China Finance and Economics News, November 8th: Recently, at the 7th CIIE, the Cardiac Rhythm Management Business Department of Medtronic China held a mission-driven event titled "Healthy Heart Ecosystem, Protecting Heart Health," comprehensively showcasing a full-process solution covering arrhythmia disease diagnosis, treatment, and postoperative management.
As a globally prevalent cardiovascular disease, arrhythmia highlights the increasing importance of popularizing related disease knowledge and innovative therapies against the backdrop of an intensifying aging population.
Professor Shu Zhang, Director of the Cardiac Rhythmology Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, pointed out that cardiovascular diseases such as arrhythmia in China are still on a continuous rise, seriously affecting the physical health and life safety of the Chinese people. This trend also places enormous pressure on the healthcare system and patients' families. Meanwhile, although awareness of arrhythmia has increased in recent years, the overall understanding among the affected population regarding prevention and treatment technologies for arrhythmia remains insufficient. Therefore, further promotion of early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment of arrhythmia will have a positive impact and is of great significance.
Meng Dongping, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, stated that the CIIE is not only a platform for showcasing cutting-edge global technologies but also a microcosm of China actively integrating into the global innovation ecosystem and advancing its national health strategy. "We are delighted to see Medtronic, as a leading multinational medical device company, inject new momentum and vitality into the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases such as arrhythmia in China, continuously bringing innovative therapies and advanced products while collaborating with a wide range of clinical physicians across China to improve public health standards."
When the heart rate is below 60 beats per minute, it is called bradycardia. Such a heart rate may cause dizziness, amaurosis, fatigue, shortness of breath, and even syncope. Professor Su Yangang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology of the Chinese Medical Association and a professor at Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, introduced that bradycardia, like a time bomb, silently affects patients' health. Treatment needs to be tailored according to the specific conditions of patients, and pacemaker implantation is the key turning point in the treatment of bradycardia. "After more than 60 years of progress and innovation, pacemakers have evolved from large-volume, external applications to leadless pacemakers that are minimally invasive, with no pocket, no scar, and no constraints when implanted in the body. This innovative therapy has brought new life to more than 200,000 patients worldwide." Known as the "world's smallest pacemaker," Micra has appeared at the CIIE for seven consecutive years.™ The AV2 Transcatheter Leadless Pacemaker System, as its upgraded version, increases the service life by 40% while keeping the volume and weight exactly the same as the previous generation. This is achieved by reducing chip power consumption and improving battery performance. Equipped with smarter algorithms, it is expected to achieve higher implantation safety. The extended battery life means that the Micra leadless pacemaker can work non-stop in the human body for up to nearly 17 years, reducing the need for pacemaker replacement and thereby lowering the overall treatment burden for patients with bradycardia.
Medtronic Global Senior Vice President and Greater China President Gu Yushao stated that Medtronic has always been committed to advancing with the goal of benefiting a wide range of patients through innovative therapies and cutting-edge products. The diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmia diseases is also one of the areas where Medtronic has been making every effort. "In the future, Medtronic will continue to deepen cooperation with medical institutions in China, combining global perspectives with local insights, promoting localized applications and innovations, and working together with experts from China and abroad to continuously drive breakthroughs in the field of heart health."
On the same day, Medtronic showcased Micra™ AV2 Transcatheter Leadless Pacemaker System, Aurora™EV-ICD Extravascular Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator, MyCareLink™Implantable Electronic Device Monitor, Cobalt™XT Implantable Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator, ASQ 4798 Implantable Left Ventricular Pacing Lead, TYRX™Absorbable Antibacterial Envelope, LINQ II™A series of globally leading cardiac rhythm management innovations, such as implantable cardiac event monitors, comprehensively interpret the concept of "Healthy Heart Ecosystem" and drive heart rhythm management to new heights.
