【Pharmaceutical Network Industry DynamicsRecently, Leman Biotech, Kanglin Biotechnology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., and other pharmaceutical industry companies announced that they have completed financing of over 100 million yuan to advance the development of relevant R&D pipelines.
Among them, Leman Biotech Co., Ltd. announced on November 12 that it had recently completed an A-round financing of over 100 million yuan. The funds raised will be mainly used for the IND application of its core CAR-T cell drugs, the research and development of automated production processes, as well as the acceleration of clinical translation for metabolism-enhanced solid tumor cell therapy drugs.
Data shows that Leman Biotech Co., Ltd. is a company focused on the development of innovative immunotherapy drugs for cancer, combining immune metabolic reprogramming (Meta 10) with AI. Based on its existing technology platform, Leman Biotech is developing a core product, a metabolism-enhanced CD19 CAR-T therapy (Meta10-19 injection). In an investigator-initiated clinical trial (IIT), this therapy achieved tumor cell clearance with an extremely low dosing level (as low as 1% of the dosage used in traditional CAR-T therapies).
In the clinical research of cell therapy for solid tumors, Leman Biotech has recently made certain breakthroughs. The company has partnered with XtalPi and antibody discovery startup Comma Biologics to successfully develop an AI super-factor screening platform and a neoantigen antibody discovery platform using AI computational models and high-throughput screening technologies. This technology enables the directed evolution of antibody recognition sequences in CAR-T cells for solid tumors, enhancing the specificity of CAR-T cells for target antigens while reducing off-target effects on homologous tumor-associated antigens in normal tissues. It is expected to improve the safety and efficacy of metabolism-enhanced CAR-T cell therapy for solid tumors. Recently, Leman Biotech will initiate clinical research on metabolism-enhanced cell therapy targeting solid tumors.
According to the news on November 11, Kanglin Biotechnology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. successfully completed its Series A financing, with a total financing amount of 150 million yuan. This round of financing will help accelerate the advancement of the company's various research pipelines.
One of the core products, KL003 Cell Injection (for treating transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia), received clinical trial approval from the Chinese regulatory authority in January 2024 and has since commenced clinical trials. Enrollment for all patients in Phase I clinical trials has been completed. The project is currently proceeding at full speed; a GMP-compliant cell production line was put into operation in early 2024, which not only meets the requirements of the clinical stage but also satisfies commercial production needs. Additionally, KL003 Cell Injection recently received both Pediatric Rare Disease Designation (RPDD) and Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) from the U.S. FDA.
Data shows that Kanglin Biotechnology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. focuses on the research and commercialization of innovative gene therapy drugs, targeting diseases that seriously affect human health, such as thalassemia, AIDS, hemophilia, and Parkinson's disease.
In addition, according to recent reports, Anhui Zhongsheng Traceability Biotechnology Co., Ltd. announced the completion of the first close of its 150 million yuan Series B financing round. The funds raised will mainly be used to accelerate the clinical development of multiple pipelines in the iPSC cell therapy field by Zhongsheng Traceability, as well as subsequent product commercialization. Meanwhile, BioTrackTech announced the successful completion of a multi-million-yuan Pre-A financing round exclusively invested by Liaoning Jingci Medical Investment Management Co., Ltd. The proceeds will primarily be utilized to expedite the IND application process for BioTrackTech's self-developed "Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Specific Conjugated Peptide Vaccine" product BPV-01, as well as to advance other R&D pipelines.
