Recently, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology has reorganized the structure of its Surgical Division. Effective January 1, 2025, the Surgical Division will be restructured intoMinimally Invasive and Energy Surgery Division、Wound Closure Division、Biosurgery Division、Surgical Full Product Expansion Division(i.e., Wide-area Market Division),Strategic Marketing Department、Robotics and DigitalizationComposed of six major departments.
In view of the rapid changes in the policy environment and the new competitive landscape, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology believes that the continued leadership of its Surgical Division in this new era is a crucial cornerstone for winning the Chinese market and securing the future. To this end, the company has launched the "Shining Win 2030" strategy for the Surgical Division, aiming to accelerate the transformation of the GTM model to provide higher quality and faster services to more customers and patients.
In the new stage of development, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology must consolidate and expand its existing advantages in core markets while also seizing opportunities in second- and third-tier markets to accelerate market penetration and broaden its presence in wider regional markets. To achieve this, the company will rely on innovative methods, a dedicated team, and fully leverage the synergies of One Surgery to drive the in-depth development of mature businesses, while establishing surgical robotics and digital innovation operations.
Effective January 1, 2025, the Surgical Division will be restructured into six departments: the Minimally Invasive and Energy Surgical Division, the Wound Closure Division, the Biosurgery Division, the Surgical Full Product Expansion Division (i.e., the Broad Market Division), the Strategic Marketing Department, and the Robotics and Digital Department. Each division will be led by the following leaders:
The Minimally Invasive and Energy Surgery Division will be led by the current Senior Director of the Biosurgery Division.Chen SongxinServe as Senior Director.
The Surgical Full Product Expansion Division, as a newly established department, aims to deeply explore the potential of the broad market and will be led by the current National Sales Director of the Biosurgery Division.Gao FeiServe as Senior Director.
The Surgical Strategic Marketing Department will be led by the current Market Access Director of the Minimally Invasive and Energy Surgery Business Unit.Chen JingfengResponsible, he will leverage the resources and advantages of One Surgery to lead the team in formulating clear market strategies, guiding new product development and digital surgery construction, and providing momentum for the continuous growth of surgical business.
The leadership positions for the Wound Closure Division, Biosurgery Division, and Robotics & Digital Solutions remain to be announced, with the company expected to disclose the relevant appointments at a later date.
Moreover, the Senior Director of the MONARCH Surgical Division, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology ChinaChen XiaomingHas decided to leave the company and seek new career development opportunities. He will conclude his work at Johnson & Johnson on December 31, 2024, and during this period, he will collaborate closely with the team to ensure a smooth transition.
Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology has experienced numerous personnel changes in the past year.
Last week, Larry Jones, Global Vice President of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology and Group Chief Information Officer, will retire from the Johnson & Johnson medical device business. Details such as his current status, official departure date, or who will replace him remain unknown.
Last year, Ashley McEvoy announced her resignation as the Global Chair of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies. She continued to serve as an advisor until February 2024, after which Tim Schmid took over as the head of the medical device business.
In August this year, Peter Fasolo, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Johnson & Johnson, who has worked for the company for nearly 20 years, plans to retire at the end of this year. The company has chosen Kristen Mulholland to succeed him, effective from October 1st. Fasolo and Mulholland will collaborate during a transition period until Fasolo's official retirement.

He will continue working at Johnson & Johnson until September 16, 2024. During the transition period, Edward Zhou will temporarily oversee the management of the Cardiovascular and Specialty Solutions Division as well as the External Affairs and Market Access departments. Chen Chu Hui joined Johnson & Johnson in 2009, holding managerial positions in the Ethicon ASP Division, Endo Division's Harmonic Scalpel business, Gynecare Division, and Mentor Division. After returning to Johnson & Johnson in 2015, he took on significant leadership roles such as Channel Management, Strategic Customer Operations, and Professional Education.
In July, Johnson & Johnson announced that Edward Zhou (Zhou Mintao) will assume the position on July 25, 2024.President of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology, ChinaOne position, while also becoming one of the members of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology Asia-Pacific leadership team. Zhou Mintao has nearly thirty years of work experience at Johnson & Johnson. He joined the Johnson & Johnson consumer business in 1992 as a sales representative and later served as the General Manager of Johnson & Johnson's consumer business in Singapore. After returning to China, he served as the General Manager of Johnson & Johnson's consumer business in China. In 2015, he served as the Vice President of the Ethicon division’s surgical business, and in 2016 became the General Manager of the Ethicon division in China.
In April, Johnson & Johnson announced the departure of Song Weiqun, Chairman of Johnson & Johnson China and President of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology China. In 2003, Song Weiqun joined Johnson & Johnson at its U.S. headquarters as the only global management trainee that year. Will Song's career has only included one company: Johnson & Johnson. He is the first China-born Chairman of Johnson & Johnson.

At the end of March, Johnson & Johnson Medical Technologies announcedThe New Appointment for General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Medical (China) Ltd. Surgical DivisionTulio Oliveira. Before joining the China team, Tulio served as the Global Head of Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology's Advanced Stapling business in the Surgical sector. Tulio joined Johnson & Johnson in 2003 as an Ethicon sales representative for the Brazilian market. He subsequently worked in Brazil, the United States, Chile, and Argentina, with responsibilities spanning sales, marketing, new business development, global strategic marketing, strategic planning, and general management.

Last month, Johnson & Johnson Medical released its third-quarter financial report, which showed very positive results. The global revenue reached $22.5 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of 5.2%. Global sales of Johnson & Johnson MedTech amounted to $7.9 billion, marking a year-over-year growth of 5.8% and an operational growth of 6.4%. The main drivers of sales growth were electrophysiology products in the cardiovascular field, Abiomed (formerly known as interventional solutions), contact lenses in the vision sector, and wound closure products in general surgery.
