Life Science Technology Developer

[November 15, 2024, Shanghai, China] Abiosciences (Analytical BioSciences Limited) and its subsidiary, Shanghai XingSai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., recently announced the signing of an asset purchase agreement with Gilead Sciences Inc.
This agreement involves a novel approach pioneered by Abiosciences in cancer immunotherapy, which induces the formation of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) by reprogramming cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment. This strategy addresses the key challenge of low tumor immunogenicity by effectively recruiting and activating immune cells to promote a robust anti-tumor immune response. In multiple preclinical models, these molecules have demonstrated significant potential to overcome resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapies and have proven effective when used in combination with various treatment strategies.
According to the agreement, Gilead Sciences has obtained the global rights to several preclinical anti-tumor candidate drug assets from Abiosciences and will pay an upfront fee and milestone payments. Gilead Sciences will grant Abiosciences the right of first refusal in mainland China for the aforementioned individual asset.
