On November 26, China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial") and Pfizer Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Pfizer") officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Both parties will fully leverage their respective strengths to jointly promote the commercial operation of four high-quality, well-established drugs for lung cancer and breast cancer—AROMASIN, IBRANCE, Pharmorubicin RD, and XALKORI—and expand patient accessibility. Han Yuewei, Vice President of China Resources Group, and Jean-Christophe Pointeau, President of Pfizer China, Executive Committee Chairman of RDPAC, and Vice President of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.
China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group will fully leverage its extensive market system and well-established distribution network to ensure these mature drugs reach a broader patient population quickly. Pfizer will continue to increase its investment in the oncology field, further focusing on high-incidence cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, urological tumors, and hematological malignancies, while accelerating the development of innovative drugs and providing transformative treatment solutions.
Data shows that the incidence of lung cancer in China increases by 26.9% annually. Lung cancer has become the malignant tumor with the highest mortality rate in China. It is estimated that by 2025, the total number of lung cancer patients in China will reach 1 million, making it the country with the highest number of lung cancer cases in the world. According to data released by the National Cancer Center, there were 357,200 new cases of breast cancer nationwide in 2022. Due to the combined impact of lifestyle, dietary habits, and other factors, the incidence of breast cancer in China continues to rise and shows a trend of younger onset age. Particularly in rural areas, the growth rate of breast cancer incidence among women under 35 is faster than in urban areas.
Wu Jianjun, Chairman of China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group, pointed out: "China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group actively responds to the strategic decisions and deployments of the 'Healthy China' initiative, safeguarding the health of the general public. China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group and Pfizer have been long-term partners, achieving fruitful results in previous collaborations. This deepened cooperation with Pfizer in the fields of breast cancer and lung cancer drugs marks a further strengthening of the partnership between both parties. We believe this collaboration will contribute to cancer prevention and treatment efforts in China, enabling more patients to receive timely treatment and truly benefit."
Jean-Christophe Pointeau, President of Pfizer China, Chairman of the RDPAC Executive Committee, and Vice President of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, stated: "Fighting cancer is a significant challenge for humanity and a strategic focus that Pfizer has always prioritized. At Pfizer, we firmly believe that time is life. Through our strong collaboration with China Resources Pharmaceutical Commercial Group, we hope to expand the accessibility of Pfizer's established medicines, particularly benefiting more patients in remote rural areas of China, and jointly combating lung cancer and breast cancer, the two most prevalent cancers in China."
