BioMap Announces Appointment of Professor Stan Li as Chief Scientist (AI Large Models). Professor Li, a top expert in the global AI field and Chair Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Westlake University, will lead and guide the development and application of multiple AI large model projects. He will also participate in planning and executing the company’s overall technology strategy, providing strategic support for BioMap's cutting-edge innovations in the "AI for Life Science" domain.
Professor Stan Z. Li is a world-renowned AI scholar, IEEE Fellow, and IPAR Fellow. He has published over 500 papers with more than 73,000 citations and an H-Index of 149. Together with Yann LeCun and Andrew Ng, he ranks among the top ten global AI scholars. In the 2024 World Scientist and University Rankings, he ranked first globally in the field of "AI for Science." He has served in key academic roles, including as an associate editor of the prestigious AI journal *IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence* (IEEE T-PAMI). With long-term involvement in top international AI academic platforms, he enjoys widespread recognition in both the global academic community and the industry.
Professor Li has been a professor at Nanyang Technological University since 1991 and joined Microsoft Research Asia as a Lead Researcher in 2000, accumulating extensive experience in academic research and industry. He invented the world's first real-time facial recognition system. For many years, he served as a senior researcher at the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, leading the development of more than ten national key projects. In 2019, he joined Westlake University as a Chair Professor of Artificial Intelligence, directing the work of the AI Research and Innovation Lab at Westlake University, while heavily investing in the AI + life sciences field, achieving a series of groundbreaking academic results. As the principal investigator and chief scientist, Professor Li has led two major national projects under the "New Generation Artificial Intelligence" initiative (AI + protein computation, drug design) and one key project from the National Natural Science Foundation (AI + multi-omics analysis), becoming a frontier explorer in the field of AI + life sciences research.

As the world's earliest platform company focused on large foundational models in life sciences, BioMap has always been committed to promoting technological innovation in the "AI for Life Science" field. The addition of Professor Li will further accelerate BioMap's technological breakthroughs in the AI large model domain, providing strong support for BioMap particularly in cutting-edge technologies like cross-modal techniques and research on fundamental AI theories, thereby expediting the intelligent development of the global life sciences field.
Professor Li Ziqing stated:"The outstanding technological innovation capabilities demonstrated by BioMap in the AI + life sciences field have deeply inspired me. At the large model level, BioMap's latest foundational large model for life sciences, xTrimo V3, has surpassed 210 billion parameters, covering seven mainstream modalities in life sciences. In terms of high-performance bio-computing and multi-omics data technology R&D, BioMap leverages cutting-edge technologies such as AI algorithms, chips, and supercomputing to build a robust computational support system, accelerating the mining, analysis, and matching of biological data, paving new paths for drug discovery and medical technology. At the industry application level, BioMap has reached strategic AI model development cooperation with globally renowned pharmaceutical companies like Sanofi. These developments align perfectly with my years of dedication to exploring the application of artificial intelligence in the life sciences field. I hope to combine my research experience with BioMap’s large model technology and industrialization capabilities to jointly advance the frontier innovation and development of AI + life sciences."
BBioMap Co-founder and CEO Mr. Liu Wei said: "Teacher Li Ziqing is a senior expert in the field of artificial intelligence, based on his profound expertise in AI and extensive experience in pattern recognition and machine vision. In recent yearsIn the field of biological computing, a series of pioneering achievements have been made, especially in protein dynamic conformation modeling, protein and cell characterization, multimodal large biological foundational models, and other areas where numerous results have been achieved. Today, we are honored to welcome Teacher Li as a member of our team with technical dreams. In the process of BioMap's strategic expansion into more life science fields, we look forward to new breakthroughs in large model technology research, development, and application across various scenarios through his exploration of AI large model technologies.”
