Medtronic's Supra-annular Self-Expanding EvolutTranscatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)Valve isPCR London Valves 2024The center of multiple clinical trials displayed above. One study focuses on cusp overlap Technology, while another study tracked the improvement of paravalvular leak (PVL) over time.
"With the Evolut TAVR system, we are committed to improving patient outcomes while maintaining exceptional safety and efficiency," said Nina Goodheart, Senior Vice President and President of Structural Heart & Aortic at Medtronic, in a statement.Statement"It was said at the conference. 'The data presented at the 2024 London Valve Conference further establishes Medtronic and Evolut as leaders in providing strong clinical evidence to support and share with doctors in making the best decisions for patients when selecting and implementing TAVR.'"
One study introduced during the meeting was Optimize PRO, a global analysis of optimized care pathways, including details such as the deployment of TAVR valves using cusp overlap technique. Overall, the use of the recommended pathway for implanting the Evolut PRO or Evolut PRO+ TAVR valves was associated with an all-cause mortality rate of 0.8%, a disabling stroke rate of 1.7%, and a cardiovascular readmission rate of 5.7%. A composite endpoint of all-cause mortality or any stroke occurred in 5.1% of patients. Meanwhile, the permanent pacemaker implantation rate was 6.4%, with no cases of moderate or severe aortic regurgitation at discharge.
"We are encouraged by this data as it demonstrates significant positive outcomes when using the cutting-edge overlapping technique in conjunction with the Evolut valve," said the cardiologist at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.M.D. Steven J. Yakubov"The new results support a standardized protocol, which will help facilitate early patient discharge and reduce the incidence of complications, thereby improving their quality of life."
Researchers tracked echocardiographic data from more than 600 patients treated with the Evolut Pro TAVR valve and found that 60.8% of patients had zero/trace PVL severity at 30 days post-procedure, 36% had mild, 2.9% had moderate, and only 0.3% had severe. The team also noted that over time, PVL appeared to become less severe. After three years, 79.8% of patients had zero/trace PVL severity, 19.6% had mild, 0.6% had moderate, and none had severe.
"This analysis extends previous research, finding that the majority of patients classified as having mild or severe PVL showed improvement in PVL severity within three years," said a cardiologist from Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands.Nicolas Van Mieghem"In the same statement, they said, 'This research will help inform doctors how to treat this complication after TAVR.'"
