Basic Information
Inari Medical, Inc. was founded in 2013 as a medical device research and development company. The company develops innovative catheter-based technologies to treat venous thromboembolism and creates related products for treating venous diseases. Using its proprietary technology, Inari removes blood clots and treats venous thromboembolism in patients. Currently, Inari has developed two novel mechanical thrombectomy devices designed to remove large clots from large vessels. These two device systems are the FlowTriever Aspiration System and the ClotTriever Aspiration System. The FlowTriever system clears clots through mechanical and aspiration mechanisms. It has two key design advantages: First, its catheter features three self-expanding nitinol mesh disks that engage with the Triever20 to disrupt and transport clots into the Triever20 for extraction. Second, the Triever20 includes a highly trackable large-lumen catheter and a large-bore syringe to enable rapid removal of large clot volumes while minimizing blood loss. Currently, the FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for the FlowTriever Aspiration System for the treatment of pulmonary embolism. The ClotTriever system is capable of extracting thrombi from vein walls and aspirating and removing clots from large vessels. Its components primarily consist of the ClotTriever Sheath and the Clotriever Catheter. The ClotTriever Sheath features a self-expanding nitinol mesh funnel, an aspiration stopcock, and a hemostasis valve to maximize clot removal. The Clotriever Catheter includes a nitinol coring element and a braided collection bag for securing and collecting clots, making it easier for physicians to extract clots using the ClotTriever Sheath. Currently, the FDA has approved the ClotTriever system for peripheral vascular thrombectomy.
