Recently,FountainVest Partners’ portfolio company, Sonosemi Medical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Sonosemi”), announced the completion of its Series B+ financing round, raising hundreds of millions of RMB, with FountainVest Partners serving as co-lead investor. This Round of FinancingThe funds will be primarily invested in the R&D and registration of core product pipelines, the establishment of supply chains and commercialization channels, as well as clinical and academic promotion efforts, thereby continuously strengthening SONOSEMI’s platform-based leading advantage in the field of active vascular intervention.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Shenzhen, SONOSEMI is a national high-tech enterprise and a national-level specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative “Little Giant” enterprise. The company focuses on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, including coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, structural heart disease, heart failure, intracranial vascular disorders, and neurological conditions. It has built a full-chain innovation ecosystem to drive continuous technological advancement. As a practitioner of therapeutic innovation in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular care, the company is committed to providing physicians and patients with more intelligent diagnostic and treatment solutions.

Since its inception, SONOSEMI has established a product pipeline strategy dedicated to deeply cultivating the arterial calcification sector and reshaping a new paradigm of green, precise, and safe diagnosis and treatment. Leveraging shockwave and ultrasound technology platforms as strategic pillars, the company is driving innovation in the coronary PCI sector, actively building an intelligent diagnostic and therapeutic product matrix, and gradually expanding into clinical scenarios involving intracranial and peripheral vascular calcified lesions, thereby replicating this new paradigm for the treatment of calcified lesions.

Leveraging the dual-engine platform of “therapy + imaging,” SONOSEMI’s product pipeline demonstrates exceptional innovation and leadership, with approximately 20 core products currently under development. To date, the company holds five Class III medical device registration certificates issued by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), has filed a total of 168 patent applications, and has been granted 92 patents. Complementing these are dozens of integrated circuit layout-design registrations and software copyrights, collectively establishing a comprehensive intellectual property protection system that covers core components, complete equipment, and software systems.

Behind the rapid expansion of our product portfolio lies the support of an integrated R&D, production, and sales platform, along with a robust quality system. Currently, the company’s standardized production lines and quality system have obtained international quality certifications, including ISO 13485, MDSAP, QSD, and KGMP. The core team comprises multidisciplinary talents from fields such as semiconductors, precision instruments, clinical practice, and regulatory affairs, possessing full-chain engineering capabilities ranging from underlying chip design and independent catheter development to registration and mass production. This provides a solid guarantee for the continuous iteration and commercialization of multiple product pipelines.

In terms of product offerings, the company’s independently developed domestic first-in-class intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) system for coronary arteries (device: ISL100 Pro; catheter: LiqMagic C14) received NMPA approval for market launch in October 2023, becoming the first domestically produced IVL technology in China and breaking the monopoly held by the US-based Shockwave Medical in the field of coronary calcification treatment.

Coronary IVL Product

Leveraging its proprietary magnetically isolated pulsed power supply and multi-channel independent electrical drive technology, the product can effectively and safely fracture deep calcified plaques within the vessel wall while fully preserving the vascular intima, thereby precisely addressing the challenge of severe calcified lesions that are difficult to manage with conventional PCI procedures. Clinical research findings on this product have been published in authoritative international journals, with all 11 core technical indicators reaching internationally leading levels.

With this as the core pivot, the company continues to refine its comprehensive solutions for calcified lesions. The domestically produced peripheral artery intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) system, ranking among the top tier in China, has successfully received regulatory approval, enabling efficient treatment of long-segment and multi-segment peripheral vascular calcified lesions. The newly launched coronary scoring balloon in 2026 further enriches the product portfolio for the diagnosis and treatment of complex coronary lesions.

Furthermore, leveraging its proprietary micro phased-array transducer technology, SONOSEMI is simultaneously advancing the commercialization of its Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) and Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) products. Notably, the ICE system received approval through an innovative green channel, with 100% of its core components domestically produced in China; the IVUS product obtained NMPA approval at the end of 2025, continuing to reduce reliance on imports.

Shockwave addresses “how to treat,” while ultrasound answers “how to visualize.” Their integration within the clinical pathway enables SONOSEMI to progressively establish an interventional diagnosis and treatment system covering the entire process—from preoperative assessment and intraoperative guidance to postoperative verification—constituting its true competitive barrier that distinguishes it from single-device manufacturers.

Leveraging the synergistic advantages of its dual-technology platform combining shockwave and ultrasound, SONOSEMI continues to expand the clinical application boundaries of its products and deepen its multi-departmental diagnostic and therapeutic layout. Vertically, it is deeply engaged in complex coronary artery disease scenarios, including coronary calcification, chronic total occlusion (CTO), and in-stent restenosis (ISR). Horizontally, it has completed its expansion from cardiology to vascular surgery and proactively entered the neurology sector, continuously exploring innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions through the integration of both technologies to solidify its long-term competitive edge in product innovation.

Following the completion of technical validation, SONOSEMI has continued to accelerate its commercialization process, achieving simultaneous breakthroughs in both domestic and international markets.

In the domestic market, the core product, the coronary intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) system, has been adopted by hundreds of hospitals across China, with over 90% being Grade A tertiary hospitals. It comprehensively covers major cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment centers nationwide, pioneering the large-scale adoption and volume growth of domestically produced coronary IVL systems in hospitals.

Global expansion is accelerating in tandem, with the company initially focusing on markets along the “Belt and Road Initiative.” Its overseas distribution network now covers more than 25 countries and regions. Notably, its coronary intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) products successfully obtained official registration approvals in Indonesia, Malaysia, and other countries in 2025, making them among the first Chinese-made coronary IVL products to enter mainstream Southeast Asian markets.

Leveraging its achievements in technological innovation and large-scale implementation, the company continues to gain recognition from both the industry and policy sectors, with its industry credibility and brand influence steadily rising.

At the corporate level, the company has been recognized as a National “Little Giant” Enterprise Specializing in Specialization, Refinement, Distinctiveness, and Innovation, a National High-Tech Enterprise, and a Shenzhen Potential Unicorn. It won the Second Prize (ranked first nationwide) in the Corporate Category of the “Maker China” Medical Equipment Competition, and was selected for Arterial Network’s 2026 Future Healthcare Top 100 List and the 2025 Medical Device Industry Pan-Vascular Field Innovation Index (top 10 companies), demonstrating its comprehensive strength in technological innovation and engineering capabilities.

At the product level, SONOSEMI’s intravascular shockwave device won the 2025 German Red Dot Design Award and the Global Cardiovascular Technology Innovation Award. Its coronary shockwave therapy system and intracardiac echocardiography imaging system were also included in provincial and national innovative product catalogs, reflecting dual recognition of the products for design innovation and clinical value.
