Recently, SHAONAO-TECH, a company based in the Huanshangda Science and Technology Park, collaborated with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Shanghai Zhengde Hospital to conduct clinical practices aimed at advancing the practical application of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. A patient suffering from severe functional impairment in the left limbs showed phased improvement in left hand function after intervention using the company’s independently developed EEG acquisition rehabilitation training device, bringing new hope for subsequent functional reconstruction. This achievement not only represents an active exploration of BCI technology in rehabilitation practice but also serves as a vivid example of the Huanshangda Science and Technology Park’s efforts to promote the translation of scientific and technological achievements into practical applications.

In the Huanshangda Science and Technology Park in Baoshan District, pioneering and innovative enterprises like SHAONAO-TECH are far from rare. Yaolu Technology won the gold medal at the China International "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition with its "Breath Detection" project. Tianyu Guanglian received the Excellence Award at the 12th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and achieved on-orbit verification aboard "Haishao-1," China’s first ultra-low-orbit SAR satellite. Currently, the park’s Association for Science and Technology has gathered over 500 corporate members, including Yuzhi Tiangong and Weipu Optoelectronics. A cohort of innovation pioneers has taken root and flourished here, sketching a vibrant landscape of scientific and technological growth within the park.

Build a Full-Chain Transformation and Incubation System

Regarding the mission of establishing the Park Association for Science and Technology, Wu Bin, Deputy General Manager of the Huanshangda Science Park, stated frankly that the science park, with Dachang Town, Nanda Ecological Smart City, and the Urban Industrial Park as its core areas, aims to strengthen collaborative innovation and linked development between Baoshan District and Shanghai University by radiating and driving regional scientific and technological innovation, thereby promoting the transformation of regional scientific and technological achievements and facilitating industrial transformation and upgrading.

In recent years, the industrial park has initiated the construction of the “Shanghai University Surrounding Area Concept Verification Center” and has been approved as one of the first batch of concept verification center entities in Baoshan District. It has carried out multiple key verification projects, among which projects such as Mengde Biology have successfully completed equity option registration at the Shanghai Equity Exchange, thereby completing the pilot program of “service first, equity later.” Rongyin Technology has achieved exit through equity options, establishing a closed-loop mechanism for “shared benefits,” making it one of the few concept verification centers in China to complete the entire verification process. Meanwhile, the industrial park has gathered more than ten organizations, including the Shanghai Technology Exchange, Shanghai Industrial Intellectual Property Operation and Investment Management Co., Ltd., Shanghai Equity Custody and Trading Center, and the Shanghai R&D Public Service Platform Management Center, to confer titles on concept verification ecosystem partners and build a resource platform for joint verification and collaborative incubation.

Today, a full-chain system for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the incubation of innovation and entrepreneurship, integrating “Proof-of-Concept Centers + Incubators + Industrial Parks,” has taken initial shape. The operational model featuring “proactive incubation, collaborative commercialization, and business acceleration” is becoming increasingly well-defined. Wu Bin stated that the Science and Technology Association of the University-Shanghai Science Park will continue to strengthen its core functions, optimize the commercialization chain, and refine its empowerment ecosystem, enabling the “ant army” of startups cultivated within the park to achieve “elephant-like growth” at an early stage, thereby supporting Baoshan District’s “Northern Transformation” initiative for scientific and technological innovation.

Linking with Industry Leaders, Deepening the Integration of Industry and Research

Guided by future industrial demands, the Huanshangda Science Park actively drives innovation among large enterprises and builds a bridge for deep integration of industry, academia, and research. The park has established strategic collaborations with leading companies such as Shanghai Bell, Shanghai Model Organisms Center, Inc., and Shanghai Biochip Co., Ltd., assisting these enterprises in building robust innovative advantages and strengthening their overall innovation capabilities. By tracking and connecting with external innovation resources, including universities, the park fosters multi-level ecological cooperation, thereby activating a “second growth engine” for large enterprises.

By hosting specialized roadshows on new automotive materials and technologies, the industrial park facilitates precise alignment between university innovations and the needs of large enterprises, accelerating the integration and synergy of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with larger corporations through cutting-edge industry exchanges. Recently, to address bottlenecks in the commercialization of high-end equipment manufacturing technologies, the park has engaged in multiple rounds of in-depth coordination with Wanxiang Group, a leading manufacturer. This collaboration has resulted in the formulation of a 2026 list of core technological challenges in intelligent manufacturing. Adopting an “open competition” mechanism, the park mobilizes innovative resources from universities, research institutes, and sci-tech enterprises to conduct collaborative R&D focused on the localization of core components for new energy vehicles and industrial robots.

As the core hub for industry-research integration established through district-university collaboration, the Huanshangda Science Park has consistently fulfilled its core mission of “connecting leading enterprises and empowering university research,” establishing a standardized and regularized mechanism for industry-academia-research collaboration characterized by “large enterprises posing challenges, universities and research institutes providing solutions, and the science park facilitating end-to-end coordination.” The series of collaborations with Wanxiang Group represents a key practice by the Park to bridge the “last mile” in the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

Looking ahead, the Huanshangda Science and Technology Park will continue to attract high-quality innovative entities from across China. We sincerely invite universities, research teams, and industry technical experts to rise to the challenge by responding to our open calls for solutions, collaboratively tackling key core technologies in high-end equipment manufacturing, jointly promoting the high-quality transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing sector, providing a more solid foundation for Baoshan District’s scientific and technological innovation-driven “Northern Transformation,” and opening up broader pathways for development.
