Shares of Remegen Co., Ltd. (09995.HK) surged as much as 18% in intraday trading on Friday, as a landmark clinical study published in a top oncology journal demonstrated that the company's flagship antibody-drug conjugate drug, when combined with two other therapies, set a new survival record for patients with advanced gastric cancer.

The catalyst: On June 27, the RCTS study, led by Professor Liu Lian of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO), one of the most prestigious journals in the field of oncology. The study demonstrated that a triple-drug regimen combining disitamab vedotin — Remegen's proprietary ADC — with tislelizumab and S-1 extended the median overall survival to 31.9 months in patients with HER2 medium-to-high expressing advanced gastric cancer receiving first-line treatment. That figure represents a new record for patient survival in this indication.

Disitamab vedotin, the cornerstone of the RCTS regimen, holds a distinctive place in China's pharmaceutical history as the country's first domestically developed original antibody-drug conjugate. The drug merges the tumor-killing power of traditional chemotherapy with the precision of targeted therapy, delivering high efficacy with comparatively low toxicity. It also exhibits a so-called bystander effect — the ability to kill neighboring cancer cells even when they don't directly absorb the drug — and shows potential to overcome drug resistance, according to the company.

The drug was previously approved as a monotherapy for HER2-overexpressing advanced gastric cancer, with its efficacy and safety already validated in clinical settings. The new triple-combination data now positions it at the center of a treatment paradigm that could reshape how advanced gastric cancer is managed in the first-line setting.

For Remegen, the JCO publication adds significant clinical evidence to its growing portfolio and underscores the strategic value of its ADC platform. The 31.9-month median overall survival figure is one that competitors will be watching closely — and one that could carry substantial commercial implications if the triple-drug regimen gains broader regulatory endorsement.
