Developer of Tumor Immune Cell Therapy Technologies and Products

In 2026, China’s cell and gene therapy (CGT) industry entered a critical phase of transitioning from technical validation to scaled-up clinical applications. As the nation’s first pilot zone for cell therapy, Shanghai has established a comprehensive regulatory framework covering the entire chain of “R&D–clinical trials–manufacturing–application.” Zhangjiang Pharma Valley, the core hub for industrial clustering, has gathered innovative entities pursuing diverse technological pathways, including CAR-T, AAV-based gene therapy, gene editing, TIL therapy, and iPSC-derived cell therapies.
July 3,Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Life Sciences Salon and Zhikang Forum will focus on the core scientific issues and technical bottlenecks in the industrialization process of CGT, building a multi-party academic exchange platform involving industry, academia, research institutions, medical institutions, and capital. The forum will explore key topics such as R&D challenges, process difficulties, and commercialization pathways.

▶Shanghai Pudong New Area Bio-Industry Association
Shanghai Pudong New Area Bio-Industry Association was established on September 12, 2002. It is a 5A-level social organization approved and registered by the Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong New Area, voluntarily formed by biomedical enterprises and institutions. The association has successively received numerous honors, including “5A-Level Social Organization,” “Star-Rated Society of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology,” and “Outstanding Academic Association of Pudong New Association for Science and Technology.”
The Association is presided over by Ding Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and researcher at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Chen Kaixian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy chief technical officer of the National Major Science and Technology Project for “Major New Drug Development,” serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The Association currently comprises nearly 300 member units, including 84 council member units (among the current council members are four academicians). Member units span enterprises in the fields of biotechnology, chemistry, traditional Chinese medicine, medical devices, and professional services within the Pudong New Area, as well as higher education institutions, research institutes, and service platforms. Adapting to the needs of industrial innovative development and the transfer of government functions, the Association has enhanced its service capabilities and carried out extensive work in areas such as scientific and technological evaluation, technology matchmaking, achievement transformation, international cooperation, training and exchanges, exhibitions and forums, information dissemination, annual report compilation, and the organization and implementation of special science and technology projects.
▶ Shanghai Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Public Service Platform Co., Ltd.
Shanghai Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Public Service Platform Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhangjiang Pharma Valley Platform”) was established in Zhangjiang in September 2004. It specializes in the professional incubation of life and health enterprises focused on “chokepoint” technologies, including internationally cutting-edge original innovative drugs, synthetic biology, cell/gene therapies, and high-end medical devices. Leveraging “investment value potential” as a catalyst, the platform identifies disruptive frontier technology projects in niche sectors globally. It subsequently builds a full-lifecycle service chain—from seeding, incubation, and acceleration to industrialization—through focused empowerment via professional incubation, equipment sharing, technical services, early-stage investment, and clinical resources.
To provide small, medium, and micro biomedical enterprises with one-stop, integrated sharing services for large-scale testing equipment and public technical support across the new drug R&D industry chain, Zhangjiang Pharma Valley established its Technical Service Center in 2005. The Center houses multiple testing laboratories, including NMR, chromatography, spectroscopy, and biology groups, offering comprehensive technical support for drug development. Services include drug identification, potency and efficacy testing, purity analysis, cell structure and function studies, qualitative and quantitative analysis of biomacromolecules, microscopic imaging, affinity assays, and preparation and purification. Its efficient and robust service processes deliver high-quality technical support to researchers, helping startup companies save over RMB 10 billion in equipment procurement costs and accelerating the growth of innovative ventures in new drug development.
▶ Zhikang Forum
Zhikang Forum, established in 2016, has grown into a new drug salon featuring “thematic sessions, series, and academic exchanges.” It brings together like-minded frontline experts from the pharmaceutical industry to focus on three key areas—R&D, regulations, and capital—tracking and analyzing the focal points, pain points, and bottlenecks in new drug development while seeking effective solutions.

▶ Shanghai Kezhikang Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd.
Shanghai Science and Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2016, is a global leader in accelerating new drug development processes. Located in Zhangjiang Pharma Valley, the company has also set up an operational center in Foshan within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Building upon the VIC (VC+IP+CXO) R&D model, Kezhikang has introduced project management and originally developed the novel VIMC (VC+IP+Management+CXO) R&D model. This approach transforms the managerial talent required for the process from "PCC discovery to IND-enabling studies and IND filing" into "modular, standardized, and procedural" project management services. Through VIMC management services, pharmaceutical companies can rapidly and cost-effectively access high-quality IND R&D management capabilities. This not only saves time on recruitment, training, and team integration but also mitigates risks such as mid-project staff turnover, trial-and-error hiring, and arbitration. The novel VIMC R&D model significantly reduces and avoids errors, redundancies, rework, corrective actions, and delays. For each new drug IND application, it saves more than 30% in R&D costs and over 50% in R&D time.
