Wanzhong Yixin Secures Nearly RMB 100 Million in Series B++ Financing to Advance Molecular Diagnostics and Manufacturing Capabilities

VCBeat has learned that OneChip Bio recently announced the completion of a nearly RMB 100 million B++ round of financing. The investors in this round were Chengdu Dianke Investment Co., Ltd. and the Chengdu Future Medical City Investment Fund. This is the latest funding secured by OneChip Bio following its B+ round last year. To date, the company’s total Series B financing has reached nearly RMB 300 million. The proceeds will be primarily used for clinical certification of its products, production line construction, and sales and operations.

WanZhong YiXin officially commenced operations in 2016, focusing on original innovations in biochips. Leveraging over a decade of interdisciplinary R&D and a portfolio of more than 100 intellectual property rights, WanZhong YiXin has launched a series of molecular diagnostic products, including semiconductor CMOS gene sequencers and microfluidic nucleic acid POCT detectors that are “ahead of their time.” Currently, WanZhong YiXin operates R&D and manufacturing facilities spanning nearly 30,000 square meters in Suzhou and Chengdu.

Previously, OneChip Bio (Zhangjiagang One-Chip Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) secured hundreds of millions of yuan in financing from prominent venture capital firms such as Matrix Partners China and Qiming Venture Partners. The company has also received numerous accolades, including being named among the Top 100 Innovative Medical Devices in China, listed as one of Suzhou’s first batch of unicorn incubation enterprises, recognized as one of China’s most promising startups founded by overseas returnees, and honored as a provincial-level top-tier entrepreneurial team.

Following rapid development in recent years, gene sequencing technology has been widely applied in China’s healthcare sector, achieving notable successes particularly in non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), precision cancer therapy, and pathogen detection.

However, from the perspective of Zhangjiagang One-Chip Bio-technology Co., Ltd., issues such as low timeliness and high investment costs inherent in the current “public bus” commercialization model—based on high-throughput sequencing platforms and central laboratories—continue to constrain the development of the gene sequencing industry. Therefore, Zhangjiagang One-Chip positions its products to achieve miniaturization and rapidity in sequencing technology through advanced semiconductor biotechnology.

Semiconductor-based NGS sequencing will reduce the single-run startup cost to the hundred-yuan range. Its low-throughput design, coupled with an “on-demand testing” and same-day reporting “taxi” model, is better suited for hospital clinical departments and can even extend into community healthcare settings. Compact and rapid gene sequencers are compatible with a variety of third-party diagnostic kits for multiple diseases, such as targeted pathogen NGS (tNGS) testing, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tumor pharmacogenomics, and hearing loss. They also support kits for pediatric medication guidance and chronic disease management in the elderly, further enhancing the accuracy of diagnosis and pharmacotherapy.

In addition to sequencers, Zhangjiagang One-Chip has made in-depth strides in the field of molecular point-of-care testing (POCT). Leveraging its proprietary semiconductor biochip technology, the company has built an ecosystem for molecular detection systems. Its portfolio of platform products targets various niche diagnostic segments, aiming to address current and future challenges in performance, efficiency, and cost of molecular testing, with the goal of making molecular diagnostics more accessible and rapid.

For example, Zhangjiagang One-Chip’s eTrust® rapid nucleic acid testing platform, leveraging isothermal amplification, self-driven microfluidics, and lyophilized reagent technologies, has achieved a “sample-in, result-out” workflow for rapid nucleic acid detection and was approved as an emergency project by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China for “home-based self-testing of nucleic acids.” To date, the platform has incubated multiple products.

Among these, the portable amplification instrument has obtained CE and NMPA certifications, while the COVID-19 and HPV application kits have received CE certification. Meanwhile, the WanZhong YiXin pet pathogen detection application has been fully developed, with multiple additional testing panels currently under R&D. The resulting eTrust® rapid nucleic acid testing product line will serve various rapid testing scenarios as well as home self-testing applications.

In addition to its product strength, OneChip Bio also places great emphasis on enhancing its manufacturing and quality control capabilities. VCBeat has learned that, to accelerate production line construction and strengthen supply chain collaboration, OneChip Bio has established a chip intelligent manufacturing center in Suzhou, focusing on the R&D and production of consumable biochips, building upon its existing nucleic acid rapid testing platform production line and acquisition of the production license. Furthermore, it has commenced construction of the Chengdu Precision Medicine Industry Intelligent Manufacturing Center, leveraging the national-level platform of Future Medical City and the Minshan Research Institute to focus on the R&D and production of instruments and test kits.

In the future, Zhangjiagang One-Chip Bio-technology Co., Ltd. will continue to uphold source innovation in precision medicine, deepen its expertise in biochip detection technology, and establish a strong foothold in the life sciences sector. By developing innovative products and clinical solutions, the company aims to create new tools for scientific research and clinical applications, contributing Chinese “chip” strength to human health and well-being while creating “chip” value.
