Professor Li Changming is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Engineering, a Foreign Member of Academia Europaea, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), and a Fellow of the International Society for Thin Film Science and Technology. He is a recipient of the National High-Level Talent Introduction Program and holds the title of Overseas Distinguished Professor awarded by the Ministry of Education. Currently, he serves as the Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Suzhou University of Science and Technology. Previously, he was the founding Head of the Department of Materials and Energy at Southwest University and the Director of the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Materials and Technologies. Since 2011, he has served as an expert reviewer for the National High-Level Overseas Talent Introduction Program, a panel expert for the Changjiang Scholars Lecture Professorship and Distinguished Professor programs, and an overseas reviewer for National Major R&D Projects and National Awards. He also serves as the Chief Scientist at the China University (South China) Technology Transfer Center. His prior positions include Tenured Full Professor at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Standing Committee Member of the University Academic Council, Head of the Department of Bioengineering, and Member of the Scientific Advisory Board and Chief Scientist at Motorola Inc. (USA).
Professor Li has conducted a series of pioneering works in the fields of advanced functional materials and their applications in biosensing and chips, nanomedicine, and green energy, particularly in power/energy storage batteries. He holds over 380 patents in the United States, Singapore, and China, with more than 50 successfully commercialized in China. He has developed and industrialized subcellular-level disease diagnostic technologies, achieving mass production of high-performance, low-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cathode materials, biochar, supercapacitors, and subcellular-scale optoelectronic integrated testers, generating an output value exceeding RMB 10 billion. He has published over 900 scientific papers in prestigious journals such as Nature Materials, Nature Energy, JACS, Physical Review Letters, Angewandte Chemie, and Advanced Materials, accumulating more than 60,000 citations and an H-index of 110. His honors include the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award of China, the Second Prize of the Invention and Innovation Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the Motorola Inc. Distinguished Inventor Top Science and Technology Award, the Nanyang Research and Innovation Award of Singapore, the Contribution Award for Innovative Talents in the Overseas Chinese Community of China, the Chongqing Friendship Award, and the title of Honorary Citizen of Suzhou. He serves as an editor or advisory board member for several internationally renowned journals, including Joule and Nanoscale, and is the Editor-in-Chief of Materials Reports: Energy.
