Professor Wei Hong to Present on Functional Microbiome CRO Platform Based on Germ-Free Animals at 2023 Future Healthcare Technology Conference

The latest 2023 Nature Index rankings, released recently, show that China has surpassed the United States for the first time, underscoring the rapid advancement of China’s scientific research capabilities and foundational research strength. Perhaps now, and in the near future, we should venture further into the vast, mysterious, and uncharted “no-man’s-land,” positioning ourselves as explorers, questioners, and pioneers.

From November 30 to December 1, 2023, the 2023 Future Medical Technology Conference will be held in Hefei.The conference will systematically review the 30 most noteworthy frontier technologies in the life and health sector, inviting research scholars at the forefront of each technological trend to share insights on emerging technical directions. Professor Wei Hong, Chairman of the Germ-Free Animal Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences, and President of the Chongqing Laboratory Animal Technology Association. He has established the most influential technical system for germ-free animals and their functional microbiomes in China. He conducts research on disease microbiomes based on germ-free animals, focusing on causality, screening, and evaluation. Collaborative studies have confirmed that changes in gut microbiota are key factors in the onset and development of major diseases or phenotypes such as depression, schizophrenia, and colon cancer.

Professor Wei has published 151 SCI-indexed papers in journals such as Science, with a cumulative impact factor of 1,141. Among these, he served as (co-)corresponding author for 111 SCI-indexed papers published in journals including Nature Immunology, Molecular Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Gut, Blood, Science Advances, Cell Research, Advanced Science, and Microbiome, with a cumulative impact factor of 645. He served as editor-in-chief of Laboratory Animal Science in Medicine, which was among the first batch of national graduate textbooks recommended by the Ministry of Education of China. Additionally, his edited work, Techniques for Medical Animal Experiments, received funding from the National Academic Monograph Publication Fund for Science and Technology.
