2The Third Conference of the Neurosurgery Innovation and Translation Branch of the China Association of Health Care for the Elderly, along with the Final Review Meeting of the “Shenji Miaoshu” 2023 Neurosurgical Innovative Technology Evaluation, was successfully held in Hefei from November 30 to December 1, 2023. The conference was guided by the Hefei Municipal Development and Reform Commission, hosted by the China Association of Health Care for the Elderly and its Neurosurgery Innovation and Translation Branch, and co-hosted by VCBeat and VB100.

This timeThe conference was“Empowering Innovative Development in Neurosurgery, Promoting the Construction of a Healthy China” was the theme. Adhering to the mission of driving innovation and translation in neurosurgery, enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic standards and outcomes, and providing better medical services for patients, the event established a platform for in-depth exchange and win-win collaboration among neurosurgical professionals and innovative enterprises in the field. This was achieved through the release of a White Paper on Neurosurgical Medical Devices, the presentation of the 2023 National “Shenji Miaoshu” (Ingenious Devices and Techniques) Innovation Technology Awards in neurosurgery, and sharing sessions by past award winners to discuss their innovative experiences.

The conference, withOpening of the 2023 “Shenji Miaoshu” Final Review Meeting on Innovative Technologies in NeurosurgeryBuilding upon approximately eight months of rigorous preliminary and secondary reviews, the final round featured nine finalists. Following insightful commentary and discussions by a panel of renowned neurosurgical experts and leading specialists in medical translation across China, a cohort of outstanding medical translation projects with significant innovation and clinical application value was selected. Among them, the Golden Incubation Fund was awarded to the project “Artificial Bionic Vestibule,” submitted by Dr. Ren Pengyu from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. Attending scholars and experts noted that the technological sophistication of projects participating in the society’s review process continues to rise, with artificial intelligence featuring prominently in many entries, aligning with current cutting-edge technological trends. There is a shared belief that, supported by the society’s innovation and translation platform, these projects will drive new breakthroughs in neurosurgical diagnosis and treatment technologies.

This conference brings togetherNeurosurgeons, scholars, healthcare professionals, corporate representatives, and engineers from across China engaged in sincere and pragmatic exchanges. During the keynote session, Mr. Wan Changqing, Deputy Director of the Hefei Municipal Development and Reform Commission, enthusiastically presented an overview of Hefei’s scientific research and innovation landscape. He affirmed the Hefei Municipal Government’s steadfast support for the translation of medical innovations into clinical applications, pledging to continuously enhance policy frameworks to support innovative diagnostics and treatments, thereby fostering a more favorable environment for entrepreneurship and academic advancement.
