Ranking of Non-Listed Companies

This ranking is targeted at non-listed companies in the healthcare and medical sector. The selection process is based on the VB100 value assessment model, proceeding through stages of self-declaration by enterprises, review by the VBEF Review Committee, cross-review by supporting institutions, and final adjudication by the Expert Committee, fromInnovative Medical Devices & Intelligent Manufacturing, Innovative Pharmaceuticals & Biologics, Digital Health & Healthcare Services, Healthcare Commerce & Supply Chain ServicesSelect the top 100 most valuable innovative enterprises in each of the four major sectors. In addition to valuation, candidate companies will be further evaluated on their growth and annual performance across four primary indicators—human resources, knowledge resources, key partner resources, and market performance—comprising a total of 17 secondary indicators.


I. Top 100 List of Innovative Medical Devices and Intelligent Manufacturing

Scope of Call for Submissions:

The scope primarily covers R&D and manufacturing enterprises in the fields of medical devices, medical consumables, and in vitro diagnostics (IVD), as well as companies that independently develop innovative medical devices and intelligent manufacturing products supported by digital technologies (such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence). This includes, but is not limited to, enterprises in the following areas: high-value consumables (cardiovascular, orthopedic, ophthalmic, dental, neurological, blood purification, non-vascular intervention, etc.); low-value consumables (medical hygiene materials and dressings, anesthesia consumables, disinfection consumables, injection and puncture consumables, etc.); medical equipment (imaging, patient monitoring, radiotherapy, physical and chemical analysis, dialysis, laser, surgical, rehabilitation, etc.); home-use medical devices (blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, massagers, etc.); AI-enabled medical devices (smart wearable devices, AI-based medical imaging, etc.); medical robots (surgical robots, rehabilitation robots, etc.); and in vitro diagnostics (biochemical diagnostics, immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, POCT, microbiological diagnostics, hematology diagnostics, etc.).


Eligibility Criteria:

A. Non-listed companies in the fields of innovative medical devices and intelligent manufacturing;

B. The place of registration or principal place of business is in China (including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan);

C. Still in operation as of the selection date, with the capacity for continued operations;

D. At least secured angel-round financing (if there is no external financing, detailed valuation assessment materials must be provided as required);

E. Possesses significant innovations in products, technologies, materials, business models, etc.;

F. The enterprise has a good reputation, with no major violations or penalties in the past three years.


II. Top 100 Innovative Pharmaceuticals and Biological Products

Scope of Call for Submissions:

Primarily covering pharmaceutical companies engaged in R&D, production, innovative drugs and biologics, or providing innovative therapies, as well as enterprises that independently conduct R&D of innovative pharmaceuticals and biologics supported by digital technologies (such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence). This includes, but is not limited to, companies in fields related to biological drugs and biologics for prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and healthcare (e.g., antibodies, vaccines, blood products, cell therapy, gene therapy), chemical drugs (e.g., generics, innovative drugs), and traditional Chinese medicine (e.g., traditional Chinese medicine, innovative TCM).


Eligibility Requirements:

A. Non-listed companies in innovative pharmaceuticals and biologics;

B. The place of registration or primary operations is in China (including mainland China and the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions);

C. Still operational as of the evaluation date, with the capacity for continued operations;

D. Have secured at least angel-round financing (if there is no external financing, detailed valuation assessment materials must be provided as required);

E. Possesses significant innovations in products, technologies, therapies, or applications;

F. The enterprise has a good reputation, with no major violations or penalties within the past three years.


III. Top 100 Digital Healthcare and Health Services List

Scope of Call for Submissions:

It primarily covers enterprises that directly provide patients with services such as diagnosis, treatment, testing, rehabilitation, health consultation, and online education, as well as those that empower patients in disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and health management through digital technologies (such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence). This includes, but is not limited to, general hospitals, specialized hospitals, standalone hospitals, hospital chains, and clinics in the non-public medical sector (covering both serious medical care and consumer healthcare); physician groups; internet hospitals; mobile health/telemedicine platforms; patient consultation service platforms; digital therapeutics (for chronic diseases, neurological disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc.); pharmacies and retail terminals; IVD and precision diagnostics services; and third-party service providers for testing, imaging, and health check-ups.


Eligibility Criteria:

A. Non-listed companies in the digital healthcare and health services sector;

B. Place of registration or principal place of business is in China (including the mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan);

C. Must be operational as of the selection date and possess the capability for sustained operations;

D. Must have secured at least angel-round financing (if there is no external financing, detailed valuation assessment materials must be provided as required);

E. Possesses significant innovations in products, services, business models, and other aspects;

F. The enterprise has a good reputation, with no major violations or penalties in the past three years.


IV. Top 100 Healthcare Commerce and Supply Chain Services List

Scope of Call for Submissions:

Companies that primarily provide commercial and supply chain services to B-end (business), H-end (hospital/healthcare institution), and G-end (government) clients, such as hospitals, enterprises, and other medical institutions; as well as companies that, supported by digital technologies (cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, etc.), provide business process digital transformation and R&D/marketing/distribution digital upgrade services to B-end/H-end/G-end clients. This includes, but is not limited to, companies in related fields such as pharmaceutical and medical device CROs/CMOs/CDMOs/CSOs; life science tools and services including upstream raw materials, consumables, and equipment for pharmaceuticals and medical devices; digital drug R&D services; innovative channel and marketing services; innovative payment solutions; innovative cold chain and logistics services; medical insurance and financial services; third-party sterilization services; smart hospital construction services; and medical IoT services.


Eligibility Requirements:

A. Non-listed companies in the healthcare commercialization and supply chain services sector;

B. The place of registration or primary operations is in China (including the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan);

C. Operational up to the evaluation date and capable of sustained operations;

D. Have secured at least angel-round financing (if there is no external financing, detailed valuation assessment materials must be provided as required);

E. Possesses significant innovations in products, services, business models, and other aspects;

F. The enterprise has a good reputation, with no major violations or penalties within the past three years.

Listed Companies' Innovation Power Ranking

As a backbone of China’s economic development, listed companies’ innovation capability is not only the core engine for corporate growth but also holds significant practical importance for national innovation strategies and industrial upgrading. This ranking is based onAnnual Report Data of Listed Companies for the Current Yearas the basis, supplement research on listed companies inInnovation Input, Innovation Output, Innovation Efficiency, and Innovation ActivitiesSelected based on over 30 relevant indicators across four dimensions, combined with VCBeat’s assessment methodology for analyzing innovation trends and market potential in the sectors where listed companies operate.


Selection Criteria:

A. Healthcare sector companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and A-share market;

B. As of the publication date, enterprises that have consecutively disclosed their annual reports for two years (including the annual report for the year preceding the publication year), or enterprises that, although not having consecutively disclosed annual reports for two years, are able to provide data for all indicators in the Innovation Assessment Model;

Nominee Requirements:

A. Employed at an investment institution focusing on the primary market for healthcare and medical services;

B. Be a member of the core management team of your affiliated institution, with responsibility for overseeing investments in the healthcare sector;

C. Led no fewer than 10 representative investment cases and achieved no fewer than 5 representative exit cases in the medical and healthcare sector;

D. Led five or more investments in the primary healthcare market in 2023, and received no fewer than three mainstream media awards for equity investors (not limited to the healthcare sector);

Every year, VB100 releases the “Top 100 Enterprises Growth Analysis Report” based on that year’s Future Healthcare 100 rankings. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of relevant data for companies on the main list, summarizes patterns of corporate growth and trends in industrial evolution, and offers reference insights for healthcare enterprises and entrepreneurs. The Innovative Case Studies section of the report is open to submissions from all companies listed in the current edition. We aim to identify the most representative innovative and high-potential enterprises in the healthcare industry, conducting in-depth research on their business, product, financing, and valuation data to observe the growth trajectories of healthcare companies and the direction of industry transformation from a more authentic and comprehensive perspective. Submissions for case study inclusion are being accepted concurrently with the 2024 VBEF award applications. Participating organizations interested in having their cases featured may complete the relevant information at the end of the application link.
