Sixth Huaxi International Smart Medical Valley Industry Development Conference Successfully Held Under the Theme 'Aggregating Digital Momentum, Building an Innovation Nucleus'

To thoroughly implement the overarching requirements put forward by the Fourth Plenary Session of the 14th Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, namely “placing greater emphasis on innovation-driven development and building a modern industrial system at a higher level” and “highlighting green and digital transformation to advance economic restructuring at a higher level,” Wuhou District has engaged in proactive planning. Focusing on key aspects such as “aggregation of factors, industry-driven growth, leadership in western China, and nationwide radiation,” the district is seizing opportunities presented by the information revolution and leveraging the leading role of information technology. It strives to accelerate the digital, networked, and intelligent transformation in the broader health sector, making concerted efforts to establish itself as a core hub for the development of the digital health industry.

On December 28, the 6th Huan Huaxi International Smart Medical Valley Industrial Development Conference, co-hosted by Sichuan University, the Wuhou District Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the People’s Government of Wuhou District, Chengdu, was successfully held in Wuhou District. Focusing on digital health innovation and centered on the theme “Aggregating Digital Momentum, Creating an Innovation Core,” the conference featured five major segments: Wuhou Opportunities, Wuhou Strength, Wuhou Innovation, Wuhou Momentum, and Wuhou Landscape. Through a combination of an offline conference, innovative project roadshows, and online live streaming, the event promoted integrated innovation among government, universities, hospitals, and enterprises, jointly advancing the high-quality development of the digital health industry. It aimed to leverage the innovative momentum of digital health to provide new drivers for economic growth and establish a new innovation core. Chen Peng, a senior researcher at VCBeat Institute, stated in his interpretation of the “2023 White Paper on the Digital Therapeutics Industry” that digital therapeutics are currently in a phase of rapid development, with expanding application areas and broad market prospects. Chengdu is poised to become a fertile ground for the future of digital therapeutics; there is an urgent need to standardize clinical trial protocols for digital therapeutics, while continuing to delve into underlying mechanisms and identify sustainable business models.

Xiao Xue, Vice President of West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, shared her insights on “Prospects for the Application of Large Models in Smart Hospitals.” Using hospital scenarios as examples, she provided a clear and accessible overview of the implementation and practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) large models in clinical diagnosis and treatment, as well as hospital management. She stated that AI large models can enable intelligent reengineering of the entire healthcare workflow, encompassing diagnosis, judgment, decision-making, and patient management. Looking to the future of medical large models, Vice President Xiao expressed that these models will offer smarter and more human-centric application scenarios and experiences in the medical field, continuously driving innovation in healthcare services and management models.

Chai Ying, Vice President of Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development Co., Ltd., shared insights from a technical perspective in her presentation titled “Building a Digital Health System on the Kaihong Digital Foundation.” She introduced ShenKaihong’s innovations and collaborations in smart hospitals, particularly in hospital equipment management and scheduling, intelligent information entry, real-time data acquisition, and enhancement of inpatient services. Furthermore, in the health and elderly care sector, ShenKaihong has developed smart healthcare solutions tailored for home-based, community-based, and institutional elderly care scenarios to address practical challenges. These solutions strengthen security oversight of healthcare data, reduce elderly care costs, and achieve a closed-loop service model for happy and healthy aging.

Wuhou District is committed to building a high-quality ecosystem for the digital health industry cluster, continuously attracting innovative projects and outstanding enterprises to take root and pursue shared development. At the conference, Chengdu Huaxi Digital Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development Co., Ltd., Huawei Cloud Computing Technologies Co., Ltd., Ping An Health Insurance Company of China, Ltd. Notable milestones include the launch of operations at the Shuanghua Digital Health Industrial Park and the unveiling of the Concept Verification Center of the Huaxi International Smart Medical Valley. Moving forward, Wuhou District will fully implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 14th Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. With a focus on vigorously advancing the construction of “six batches” of key projects, the district aims to strengthen the ecosystem and supply chain of the digital health industry, striving to establish itself as a pioneering demonstration zone for the digital health sector in western China and nationwide.
