With the rise of internet-based healthcare, the female demographic has become a key battleground for mobile health management apps. Apps specifically designed for female users, such as Dayima and Meiyou, have garnered significant market attention and recognition. Capitalizing on this momentum, a wave of health management apps focused on the female market has sprung up. In addition to established players like Meiyou and Dayima, and major entrants such as Wincon International and Neusoft, many innovative niche applications are also vying for a share of the market. VCBeat conducted a survey of current women’s health management apps and found that the number is indeed substantial. According to VCBeat’s incomplete statistics, there are approximately 200–300 women’s health management apps available in major Chinese app markets, with even more available overseas. To facilitate analysis, we selected and analyzed dozens of representative apps from both domestic and international markets.

Among the major domestic women’s health management apps compiled by VCBeat, pregnancy and maternal-infant care applications, as well as apps for tracking female menstrual cycles, are particularly prevalent. In contrast, fitness and weight-loss apps dominate the landscape of major international applications. VCBeat also observed this trend while surveying the overall app market. Indeed, when women’s health management apps first emerged, it was these types of applications that initially penetrated the market. Regarding other features, domestic apps place particular emphasis on social functionalities and the integration and multifunctionality of services. Specifically, a single app often offers multiple modes for users to choose from. Menstrual cycle tracking apps, in particular, typically provide options tailored to various age groups and user roles, ensuring usability for individuals at different life stages. Meanwhile, most pregnancy and maternal-infant care apps have incorporated sections such as shopping list recommendations and e-commerce marketplaces.

Meiyou vs. Dayima: A Duopoly Battle

An analysis of download figures from major domestic app markets reveals that among female health management apps in China, Meiyou and Dayima far outpace their competitors, with combined downloads across the leading platforms exceeding 100 million.

Dayima is a mobile application for tracking women’s menstrual cycles, developed by Beijing Kangzhi Lesi Network Technology Co., Ltd. Its primary function is to record menstrual cycles, helping users better manage their cycle patterns and overall health. The app also features a health community, wellness tips, and consultation services, and offers a dedicated pregnancy mode. Dayima has achieved over 100 million cumulative downloads across major app markets, receiving strong market reception. The company has also launched Haoyunma, an app specifically designed for pregnant women. Currently, the company has completed its Series C financing round, with cumulative funding exceeding tens of millions of US dollars.

Compared with Dayima, although Meiyou also focuses on tracking women’s menstrual cycles, it offers richer features in its positioning. Users can select from multiple modes at the outset—including regular cycle tracking, preconception care, pregnancy, and mother-and-baby care—to better accommodate diverse user needs. In terms of content, Meiyou places greater emphasis on social engagement elements. The app was developed by Xiamen Meiyou Information Technology Co., Ltd. Meiyou has accumulated nearly 160 million downloads across major platforms. In addition to its flagship app, the company has specifically launched “Meiyou Pregnancy,” an app tailored for expectant mothers, which has received strong market response. Meiyou has completed its Series C financing round, with cumulative funding exceeding USD 50 million.
