Our journey is increasingly reaching the core of the issue. More intellectual resources are being engaged, more boundaries are being blurred, and more possibilities are emerging.

The integration of healthcare and the Internet is giving rise to various future possibilities: we can engage in Quantified Self, strive to achieve Precision Medicine, and optimize medical processes to enhance user experience. More importantly, by leveraging interconnected technologies, we are shifting medical diagnosis from cross-sectional consultations at a single point in time to long-term doctor-patient communication, thereby reducing incidence rates and lowering costs.

If 2014, with its fervor, was an exhilarating year for internet healthcare startups—marked by a proliferation of ventures targeting various stages of the medical process and underscored by a remarkable $4.1 billion in financing—then 2015 demands that startups begin to demonstrate tangible results, validate their early-stage business models, and rapidly scale their capabilities amid intense competition.

Amid the crowd painting a rosy picture of business, let us hear how top-tier international medical device manufacturers, physicians, and investors are embracing the internet wave, and how they interpret the notion that “reimagining the future holds its greatest potential in healthcare.”

1) Xu Chao, Mindray Bio-Medical:As a former cardiologist, 50-year-old Xu Chao jokingly refers to himself as the oldest entrepreneur in the internet healthcare startup sector. He stated that he will lead a team of professionals born in the 1980s to serve individuals born in the 1960s. His team will embark on an internet healthcare exploration journey for Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. At this salon event, he unveiled Mindray’s strategic layout in internet healthcare for the first time.
2) The Most Popular Doctor: Professor Chen BiaoDirector of the Neurobiology Laboratory at Xuanwu Hospital, a world-leading expert in Parkinson’s disease research, and a collaborator on one of the five apps launched by Apple ResearchKit. Professor Chen utilizes iPhone sensors to capture users’ movement data for assessing Parkinsonian symptoms, leveraging large-scale sample studies to advance Parkinson’s disease research.
3) Chen Penghui, a Leading Figure in Healthcare Investment:Partner at HongShan China Fund, focusing on investments in the healthcare and medical sectors. Previous investments include BGI Genomics, Amcare, Zhejiang Beta Pharma, and Kunming Jida Pharmaceutical, and led the NYSE listing of Shanghua Pharmaceutical.
