“Ask the Doctor” is a newly launched in-vitro fertilization (IVF) mobile app by a Chinese startup. By providing communication tools for doctor-to-doctor, doctor-to-patient, and patient-to-patient interactions, it offers comprehensive services to young men and women seeking assistance through assisted reproductive technology (ART), thereby improving pregnancy success rates. The company has recently secured RMB 30 million in Pre-A round funding from a prominent domestic investment firm, following an angel investment of RMB 5 million received one year ago.

The International Committee for Monitoring Assisted Reproductive Technology stated in a report that since the birth of the first “test-tube baby” in 1978, an estimated 5 million children have been born worldwide through assisted reproductive technologies. These substantial figures underscore the lengthy treatment cycles and the need to improve success rates associated with this technology. Clinical success rates are influenced by multiple factors, including patient age, patient selection, daily lifestyle habits, clinical treatment protocols, and laboratory techniques.

In terms of patient services, Wenwen Yisheng adopts an O2O (Online-to-Offline) model and operates a mature patient management platform. It provides guidance and support to patients across multiple stages, including family planning, pre-conception check-ups, correcting misconceptions about in vitro fertilization (IVF), pre-conception conditioning, and conception methods. During the course of care, the platform also offers follow-up tools to facilitate doctor-patient interactions. These tools ensure efficient communication among healthcare providers and between doctors and patients throughout all phases—such as ovulation induction, oocyte retrieval, in vitro fertilization, embryo transfer, luteal phase support, and pregnancy confirmation—thereby enhancing treatment efficiency and the overall medical experience. With a patient-centric approach to disciplinary information technology development, Wenwen Yisheng has also built a robust shared knowledge base and experience repository for complex case consultations. This resource is made directly accessible to patients for self-education, improving treatment adherence, while simultaneously providing physicians with valuable analytical insights and clinical recommendations.

The team behind Ask a Doctor was jointly founded by Harvard-trained MDs, renowned reproductive medicine specialists and PhDs from leading fertility centers in China and abroad, and an internet product, technology, and data team with prior experience at Microsoft, Baidu, 360, Tencent, and Alibaba. The team possesses extensive practical expertise in assisted reproduction, healthcare product development and operations, and big data processing.
