Seeing today’s news headline, “Future Grade-A Tertiary Hospitals Will Not Have Outpatient Departments,” I can only say that hope lies ahead, and the forces driving reform are gradually gathering momentum, much like schools of fish in the deep sea slowly converging.
Overall, this vision remains somewhat distant. Reform of public hospitals continues to face formidable challenges; shifts in vested interests proceed hesitantly and slowly, advancing one step only to retreat the next. Only external forces can drive meaningful change. And such change will not arrive like a sudden spring thunderclap, but rather as a persistent, gentle night rain.
Only when external physician groups and multi-site practice become normalized and market-driven will relevant institutions undergo transformation. Among the current cohort, some will emerge as pioneers, while others will become martyrs. Regardless of the outcome, each has sacrificed for a greater cause and found their rightful place.
I deeply admire physicians, and even more so those who have stepped outside the established system to leverage their existing resources in driving the advancement of future healthcare. Without them, it is hard to imagine what the future of medicine would look like.
Given the current landscape, whether termed “Internet Healthcare” or “Healthcare Internet,” both represent the onset of healthcare reform. Initiated by tech industry professionals who leverage their existing technological expertise to disrupt, reconstruct, and transform the sector, these efforts have thus far remained largely peripheral to core medical practice. The internet has facilitated information flow and resource reallocation, prying open the once-closed doors of healthcare and bringing a ray of hope to the creative and imaginative physicians within.
So this is how healthcare can be delivered. With highest regards, a beacon for the future of healthcare.
Gangsters are not to be feared; what is truly daunting is when they are educated (used metaphorically only). Once the creativity within physicians is unleashed, their innovative power becomes irresistible. They are well-versed in every aspect of healthcare, work on the front lines, and understand which pain points need to be addressed. They can penetrate to the very core of the medical system. The future of healthcare transformation will undoubtedly rest in their hands.
The era of comprehensive platforms has passed. Platforms dominated by internet professionals are also nearing their end. Specialists will inevitably assume greater responsibilities. Public demand has been cultivated to maturity by pioneers in the field. The market has entered a phase of segmentation. Specialists will lead each stage within their respective fields. Every link—including data acquisition (via smart hardware), initial consultation processes, diagnosis, post-hospital management, medication selection, and rehabilitation care—will be refined and hosted on specialized platforms.
Amidst a hundred barges vying in the current and a thousand sails racing across the waves, I dedicate this brief article to the physicians I hold dear. Love you all!
