Internet Healthcare Welcomes Another Major Investment: Almond Doctor Secures RMB 200 Million in New Funding Round Led by FountainVest Partners, with Follow-on Investments from Sequoia China and Lightspeed China Partners
According to VCBeat, FountainVest Partners places the greatest emphasis on Apricot Doctor’s core team. Han Yan, a partner at Lightspeed China Ventures, stated, “We are very bullish on the internet healthcare sector. Apricot Doctor holds distinct advantages due to its unique integration of internet and medical expertise, as well as its thoughtful product and service offerings designed from physicians’ perspectives.”
The core team of Xingren Doctor includes founder Martin, who has over 15 years of experience in the healthcare sector, encompassing clinical practice, hospital management, and healthcare informatics (eight years). Another founding member, Xu Lin, comes from a Tencent product background with 11 years of product management experience, having managed billion-user platform projects such as Qzone and QQ Farm. You Huan, who later joined as Vice President of Sales, brings 13 years of extensive sales and management experience, having previously served as a Senior Operations Manager at Alibaba’s headquarters. Together, they form an “iron triangle” combining internet operations and offline execution capabilities. Zhang Yeming, the CTO of Xingren Doctor, is a senior technical expert with 12 years of experience in IT and the internet industry, having held positions at Fujitsu, HP, and Alibaba.
Dr. Martin, CEO of Almond Doctor, told VCBeat that the new round of financing will continue to increase investment in technology and product innovation, while accelerating the expansion of Almond Doctor's market position and promoting the rapid upgrade of its business model.

Focusing on "In-Depth" Post-Consultation Services
What sets AmyDoctor apart is that, within just 10 months of its launch, the number of real-name verified physicians on the platform has exceeded 130,000, making it the largest professional networking platform for doctors in China.
Unlike numerous “light consultation” or “appointment registration” platforms, Xingren Doctor focuses on in-depth “post-consultation” services—leveraging the reliability of face-to-face consultations and robust data support to gradually build trust between doctors and patients. After conducting offline consultations, each doctor selects patient groups requiring long-term management, establishes connections with them via their Xingren Account and WeChat, and converts them into their most valuable patient resources.
Unlike other internet healthcare apps that concentrate the most prestigious physician resources, Xingren Doctor is a patient management tool accessible to every physician, enabling them to build their personal brand. This returns the initiative and guidance in internet healthcare to physicians.
Martin stated that Almond Doctor never aims to direct patients to the “best” doctors. “Such guidance would result in an overwhelming patient load for renowned specialists, while other physicians within the same specialty remain unable to serve patients they are fully qualified to treat, leading to both scarcity and wastage of medical resources.” Therefore, the focus of healthcare reform should remain on physicians—optimizing the allocation of medical resources and improving doctors’ work efficiency. With an overall improvement in the healthcare environment, patients stand to benefit the most.
Building a Social Ecosystem for Physicians
In addition to doctor-patient communication and post-consultation follow-ups, Xingren has also made significant efforts in physician social networking and physician operations. This strategy not only sustains high user engagement but also helps each doctor effectively expand their professional network. Such word-of-mouth promotion, in turn, drives rapid growth in the user base.
Almond Doctor’s numerous industry firsts have sparked widespread imitation among similar projects. From free calls with hidden private numbers to operational campaigns offering data bonuses for check-ins, its recently launched online continuing education model, “Led by Renowned Physicians,” has once again triggered a wave of followers. The first cohort of the “Led by Renowned Physicians” program received over 2,000 registrations from physician users immediately upon launch. This model enables doctors at all levels across China to access the most influential experts and the most cutting-edge medical information, holding promise for narrowing the significant regional disparities in healthcare delivery. Meanwhile, it aggregates the user base by medical department, laying the foundation for subsequent functional modules such as referral platforms.
To enhance physicians’ professional expertise, Xingren Doctor has integrated UpToDate Clinical Consultant. As the world’s No. 1 clinical decision support system, UpToDate is utilized in over 170 countries and more than 30,000 hospitals worldwide, serving over one million physicians. This collaboration will help physicians rapidly address clinical questions.
Financing Status
In 2013, the Amyloid team secured a million-dollar angel investment from Lightspeed China Partners. In 2014, the team raised RMB 30 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed China Partners.
