1. Ye Desheng, Former Marketing Director of Xingshulin, Resigns
Recently, Ye Desheng (Robbie), former Marketing Director at Xingshulin, resigned. Robbie was primarily responsible for formulating market strategies for Xingshulin’s products, brand promotion, public relations, new media campaigns, and the execution of online and offline activities. He also served as the host of “101 Stories from Xingshulin,” a video program featuring stories about doctors produced by Xingshulin. In an interview with VCBeat, Ye Desheng stated that he is likely to join an internet company with a larger platform next.

2. Three Hospitals “Favored” by Apple CEO Cook
In Apple’s second-quarter earnings report to investors, CEO Tim Cook highlighted three hospitals using the Apple Watch: Nebraska Medicine, Ochsner Health System, and King’s College Hospital in London. Among them, Nebraska Medicine is the most recent adopter of the Apple Watch, having launched an app that facilitates communication between doctors and patients, enabling physicians to quickly access charts and dosage information.
Ochsner Health System in Louisiana is having hypertension patients wear Apple Watches to collect their health data, such as daily activity and blood pressure. King’s College Hospital is incorporating Apple Watches into clinical trials for the care and monitoring of cancer patients.
Apple did not disclose Apple Watch metrics, as it sought to avoid providing information that could be useful to competitors. The company stated that revenue from its “Other Products” category grew by 49% year over year, with the Apple Watch contributing more than 100% of this growth. According to Apple’s own market research, 94% of Apple Watch users use their device daily or on a regular basis.
According to a recent research report, Apple is estimated to have sold 4.2 million watches in the second quarter of 2015. However, two factors hindered the early sales of the Apple Watch. First, Apple missed the holiday season, and second, there were supply constraints.
Cook revealed that messaging and fitness tracking are the most popular uses of the Apple Watch. Social networks such as Twitter, WeChat, and LINE are all making full use of these third-party apps.
3. Facebook reminders can help teenagers control asthma
A preliminary study by Partners HealthCare in Boston on adolescents with asthma found that patients showed significant improvement in symptom control after receiving reminders and encouragement from clinicians via Facebook.
Partners Connected Health, in collaboration with the Pulmonary Division of Massachusetts General Hospital and the Pediatric Asthma Group of Partners Community HealthCare, created a private Facebook group for asthma patients aged 14–17. This secret group works in conjunction with a password-protected website called Connect 2 My ACT; it does not appear in Facebook search results and is visible only to invited users. Clinicians and researchers send monthly reminders and occasional educational messages to every member of the group.
One year later, among the 125 adolescents participating in the study, 79% of the children experienced improvement in their asthma, compared to a baseline average rate of only 18%.
4. Jiyun Huikang Uses Alibaba Cloud Batch Compute for Whole-Genome Sequencing
On July 22, Alibaba Cloud unveiled 11 new products at its Share Day event, including its Batch Compute service. Capable of concurrent processing on 100,000 cores, the service enables users to easily perform massive parallel computing tasks on large datasets. In the biological genomics sector, Basecloud Health utilizes Alibaba Cloud’s Batch Compute for whole-genome sequencing analysis.
Jiyun Huikang is a precision health services company that primarily provides individuals with optimal health management solutions encompassing whole-genome sequencing, interpretation, monitoring, application development, and expert guidance. During the research and development phase of Alibaba Cloud’s Batch Compute service, Jiyun Huikang served as a seed user and successfully deployed its optimized human whole-genome data analysis tools. Performance results demonstrated significantly better speed and cost-efficiency than anticipated, providing robust technical support for Jiyun Huikang’s long-term development.
