MaiDou Follow-up is positioned to serve physicians and enhance their work efficiency by leveraging mobile internet technology to build a post-consultation and post-discharge follow-up platform. It helps physicians accumulate target patient populations, continuously collect clinical data, and efficiently achieve the integration of clinical practice and scientific research, while also facilitating doctor-patient communication and improving doctor-patient relationships. Since its launch in November 2014, MaiDou Follow-up has accumulated over 6,000 core physician users without large-scale promotion. More than half of these physicians are from Grade A tertiary hospitals, and those with senior or associate senior professional titles account for over 30%.

The team stated that this round of financing will be used to continue attracting top talent, increase technological investment to drive the continuous improvement and innovation of the follow-up platform’s features, expand its base of physician users, and initiate the construction of a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem centered on doctor-patient relationships.

2. Alibaba Health Signs Cooperation Agreement with China Pacific Insurance
On July 27, Alibaba Health announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with CPIC-Allianz Health Insurance Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Pacific Insurance Company. The two parties will explore internet-based health insurance products, aiming to develop new models for commercial insurance health services. This move by Alibaba Health demonstrates its progressive completion of an integrated layout spanning pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and insurance.

Following the collaboration with Taikang Allianz, in addition to migrating Taikang Allianz’s existing health insurance products to online processes—including online enrollment, claims submission, underwriting review, and direct billing—new products will also be developed to meet internet-specific demands and scenarios. These include tailored solutions for patients receiving care at Alibaba Health’s Cloud Hospital. Furthermore, both parties will explore commercial insurance service models in areas such as community hospitals, family physician services, disease prevention and control, health management, chronic disease management, and elderly care, aligning with healthcare reform policies like tiered diagnosis and treatment.

Meanwhile, Alibaba Health’s capabilities in electronic data processing, big data analytics, risk control engines, and facial recognition-based anti-fraud technologies will be fully integrated with the claims settlement expertise accumulated by CPIC-Allianz, forming a dual-insurance security system for industry-wide cost containment.

3. “Ningbo Cloud Hospital” Opens Its Physical Brick-and-Mortar Facility

It is reported that, to date, the "Ningbo Cloud Hospital" has contracted with over 1,000 specialist physicians and family doctors. The online clinics offered on the "Ningbo Cloud Hospital" platform cover 13 "cloud clinic" specialties, including hypertension, diabetes, psychological counseling, and maternal health services. Furthermore, the "Ningbo Cloud Hospital" has achieved interoperability with third-party institutions such as local chain pharmacies in Ningbo. Prescriptions issued by "cloud doctors" can be seamlessly transmitted to these chain pharmacies, allowing residents to pick up their medications at nearby locations or opt for home delivery based on their individual needs.

4. Physicians Interactive Acquires Physician Social Network QuantiaMD

“This is our sixth acquisition,” Donato Tramuto, CEO of PI, told the media. “We have built a platform with 3.5 million physicians. The key question is not just how we add more physicians, but how we engage them. There is significant consolidation underway, driven not only by the pursuit of value but also by the need to attract users. I believe this model aligns well with PI’s strategy.”

Since its founding in 2004, Quantia has raised $40 million, but the company has not secured any financing since 2013. Approximately 34% of U.S. physicians are registered on Quantia’s online network, known as QuantiaMD. Physicians can use QuantiaMD to ask questions of their peers, engage in competitive peer learning through interactive cases to test their knowledge, and earn points within the network that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards.
