According to Med City News, the product is offered by insurance companies and aims to improve users’ health and outcomes by asking the right questions. The process begins with a questionnaire that encourages users to complete it. Once they have finished the questionnaire, the program generates a list of actionable items for users based on their feedback.

According to Johnson & Johnson’s statement, the program features “a simple, clean interface and short, easy-to-understand questions, specifically designed for cross-platform use to maximize convenience and flexibility.” By connecting with users on a personal level through an easy-to-use tool to identify behavioral changes, myhealthdiscovery addresses holistic health concerns encompassing physical health, mental health, lifestyle, and vitality.

2. SAIC Secures U.S. Department of Defense Electronic Health Record Contract
Recently, the health information technology (HIT) sector was shaken by a watershed event. The U.S. Department of Defense, long celebrated for its indiscriminate generosity toward contractors, has recently awarded Leidos—formerly known as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)—a coveted contract for the Defense Health Management System Modernization (DHMSM). Several years ago, when the competition for the U.S. Department of Defense contract began, Leidos selected Cerner as the electronic health record (EHR) vendor for this agreement.

Will the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DOD) electronic health record (EHR) contract impact order volumes in the broader commercial EHR market? Will Cerner surpass Epic, the largest EHR vendor in the United States, to become the preferred choice for large health systems?

The interoperable platform gives Cerner a leading voice in organizing national health information exchange, which is why the Department of Defense selected Cerner. Additionally, from a technical perspective, Cerner’s architecture is more modular and better suited to the Department of Defense’s needs. These arguments have some merit, but we seem to have forgotten that the DHMSM contract was awarded to Leidos, with Cerner serving merely as a subcontractor.

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), founded in 1969, is one of the largest defense facility contractors in the United States. SAIC is also a renowned multinational consortium in the U.S., comprising some of the most powerful high-tech companies, including Siemens, General Dynamics, IMA, ITT Technical Industries, Nokia, and Elbit Systems.

3. Cornell Researchers Use Personalized Algorithms in Weight-Loss Apps
A new application has been launched by the Interactive Design Lab at Cornell University, employing a novel algorithm to assist users in weight loss: it identifies healthy behaviors that users are already practicing and then gradually encourages them to repeat these behaviors.

The app, called mybehavior, will launch on the Google Play Store in September. The research team conducted a 14-week study of the app with 16 users, and the findings will be presented next month at the UbiComp conference on ubiquitous computing in Japan. Another study, a three-week randomized controlled trial involving 17 participants, has already been published in the May issue of the Journal of Medical Internet Research.

If a user goes to the gym once a week, the application might encourage them to go twice a week or exercise for longer durations. However, if the user is walking to work, the application would encourage them to continue walking, either covering a greater distance or increasing their pace. The engine is built on a decision theory model known as the “multi-armed bandit” algorithm—the same model used by Google’s advertising services and Yahoo’s personalized news articles.

4. Winning Health Acquires 11.70% Equity Stake in Haoyitong for RMB 13.23 Million
On August 3, Winning Health Technology Group Co., Ltd. released an evening announcement stating that the company plans to use its own funds of RMB 13.23 million to acquire an 11.70% equity stake in Shanghai Haoyitong Health Information Consulting Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Haoyitong”).

Hao Yi Tong Group, established in 2009 and headquartered in Shanghai, primarily provides comprehensive health services to corporate and individual clients, including health check-ups, health promotion, medical access assurance, and private personal physician services.

HaoYiTong operates three major brands: “YiTong Online,” which provides health management services to corporate clients; “51 Health,” a one-stop personal service platform; and “TianYi Hui,” a premium medical and private physician service platform for high-end clients. Additionally, it has pioneered the “1+6” integrated corporate health service model.

Winning Health operates four cloud services—Health Cloud, Cloud Hospital, Cloud Pharmacy, and PBM Cloud—covering demand-side, supply-side, and payer stakeholders, thereby forming a closed-loop ecosystem. In its announcement, Winning Health stated that this acquisition would leverage HaoYiTong’s extensive customer base to bring the company a certain volume of health service entry points, service resources, and innovative revenue-generating businesses, attract more individual customers, and hold significant importance for the company’s deployment of Health Cloud and further enhancement of the ecological industry chain for its “Internet + Healthcare” services.
