“Medical Practice Assistant” is a product of Beijing Shanghuitong Information Technology Co., Ltd. It provides individual physicians with practice management tools to facilitate multi-site medical practice.

Beijing Shanghuitong Information Technology Co., Ltd. was established on February 11, 2014, and its product, “Medical Practice Assistant,” is scheduled to launch in September 2015. Currently, nearly 100 physicians have enrolled as beta testers for the product.

The Medical Practice Assistant requires no download or installation; all functions are accessible via WeChat.

Regarding the rationale behind developing this product, Xingyi Zhushou stated that public hospital physicians in China currently face a challenging practice environment and strained doctor-patient relationships. Physicians also suffer from low income levels, while there is a strong need for them to cultivate a loyal patient base and engage with high-quality patients. Currently, both doctors and patients in China have significant demands for improved communication during and after clinical consultations.

Currently, the Medical Practice Assistant primarily includes seven major functional modules: “Appointment Management,” “Patient Management,” “Telephone Consultation,” “Online Consultation,” “Billing Management,” “Information Center,” and “Me.”

“Appointment Management”: Doctors can set and display their consultation hours, clinic location, transportation information, consultation fees, and estimated consultation duration to patients; patients can view this information online and schedule appointments.

“Patient Management”: Physicians can create electronic medical record (EMR) profiles for patients and document the clinical course details for each consultation. A group-based management system is provided to ensure clear organization of all patients’ medical records and clinical histories. The platform supports bulk messaging, enabling physicians to send messages, articles, and other content to designated patient groups. Its search functionality allows for quick and efficient location of specific information.

“Telephone Consultation”: Calls can only be initiated by physicians. Patients may submit a call request, leaving it to the physician’s discretion whether to initiate the call. Once the physician initiates the call request, the system places calls to both parties, and the conversation is established upon mutual answer. The system also provides a feature to hide the physician’s phone number to prevent harassment.

"Text-and-Image Consultation": Enables online instant messaging (IM) communication, including text, emojis, and images.

“Fee Management”: Physicians configure whether services are chargeable, set the billing method and specific prices. Services include text-and-image consultations and telephone consultations.

“Information Center”: Includes the Information Hub and My Information. In the Information Center, physicians can access relevant medical knowledge and news articles from the medical community, and can view, bookmark, and share them with patients. In My Information, physicians can view their bookmarks and newly created information or articles, create new entries with the option to add them to the Information Hub, and manage information by grouping. New entries can be created via photo capture, manual input, links, and other methods.

“Me”: Includes basic physician information, credential verification, QR code management, order management, and appointment management. Basic information allows physicians to create a polished professional profile. Credential verification validates the physician’s qualifications; only verified physicians can configure paid service items. Physicians can manage their digital business cards via the QR code management feature. QR codes are generated automatically for Service Accounts or added manually for Subscription Accounts. Order management enables physicians to view income and order details. Appointment management facilitates easy tracking of patients’ outpatient appointments.
