Anxin Peizhen Files IPO Prospectus: The 'Uber' of Medical Escort Services Expands Nationwide

Anxin Peizhen is a product under Beijing Peizhen Yijia Science And Technology Co., Ltd. Its services primarily target out-of-town patients, pediatric patients, and elderly individuals whose children are unable to accompany them to medical appointments.

Beijing Peizhen Yijia Science And Technology Co., Ltd. primarily leverages nurses from Grade A tertiary hospitals to provide comprehensive accompaniment and guidance services through an O2O model. Patients can independently place orders via a mobile app, WeChat, or hotline. Services include offline queueing for registration and ticket collection, pre-consultation reminders, in-clinic companionship, scheduling examinations, and delivering test reports. Additionally, customer service personnel provide caring services such as consultations and assistance with follow-up visit registrations.

Wu Jianhua, founder and president of Anxin Peizhen, told VCBeat that over the past six months—from preparations beginning last November, to obtaining its business license on May 14 this year, and completing angel-round financing on May 20—the company’s average daily number of organic transactions has grown from zero to 60.

Wu Jianhua has been working in the internet healthcare industry since 2010. However, he was not the one who initially proposed the idea of offering patient escort services. “This concept was put forward by my other partner,” Wu explained. Patient escorting is a field that relies less on doctors and hospitals, yet remains closely related to healthcare. The two founders recognized it as a promising market within the internet healthcare sector and subsequently partnered with two additional investors to establish Beijing Peizhen Yijia Science And Technology Co., Ltd.

Currently, Anxin Peizhen’s ground promotion team has completed its assignments at 31 Grade A tertiary hospitals in Beijing. Unlike other patient escort services, while most ground promoters stand outside hospitals under the scorching sun to market their products, Anxin Peizhen’s promoters have already secured a presence within the outpatient lobbies of these hospitals.

Currently, the ground promotion team of Anxin Medical Escort consists of 10 members. These employees basically have only one day off per week, and the entire team operates under “military-style management,” where set targets must be achieved without exception. The head of the ground promotion team was formerly a soldier responsible for the security of central government leaders. Before joining Anxin Medical Escort, this military veteran served as the Sales Director at a well-known IT company. “Over three years, he transitioned from a soldier to an ordinary employee at an IT company, and then to Sales Director. This demonstrates at least two things: first, he is intelligent; second, he is diligent,” Wu Jianhua told VCBeat. He believes that academic credentials do not fully represent an individual’s capabilities, placing greater emphasis on team members’ execution ability and learning capacity. In fact, few members of Anxin Medical Escort’s team have a medical background, but Wu Jianhua considers this irrelevant to the speed and quality of their business implementation.

“There are many barriers to entry in the patient escort industry, with the primary one being obtaining hospital authorization,” Wu Jianhua explained. He noted that securing such authorization not only allows for on-site product promotion in outpatient lobbies but also enables hospital nurses to formally participate in patient escort services as part-time staff for Anxin Patient Escort.

B2C services must have a substantial user base, and Anxin Peizhen’s user growth relies on word-of-mouth referrals from existing customers. Therefore, Anxin Peizhen places great emphasis on service quality, which is primarily delivered by part-time nurses; hence, the quality of nursing services must be exceptionally high.

All services provided by Anxin Medical Escort are delivered by currently employed nurses from Grade A tertiary hospitals, who utilize their weekly scheduled time off to perform these duties. “Nurses have at most two days off per week, and for some, it is even less,” introduced Wu Jianhua. To meet patient demand, Anxin Medical Escort typically assigns four nurses to each patient, ensuring that a nurse is available to provide service whenever the patient arrives at the hospital.

“Our service model is similar to Uber: patients select their preferred hospital, and the backend system automatically assigns a corresponding accompaniment nurse for the visit, thereby preventing situations where nurses decline assignments.” Currently, Anxin Peizhen has over 160 contracted nurses, with more than 200 nurses actively providing services. The number of nurses is determined based on average user demand. “We aim to avoid signing up a large number of nurses who end up with no work. Instead, we strive to fully mobilize each nurse’s enthusiasm and ensure they have income-generating opportunities.”

Part-time nurses providing services for Anxin Peizhen receive 100 yuan per order. Additionally, they are eligible for performance bonuses based on patient ratings: 50 yuan for a five-star rating, 40 yuan for a four-star rating, and 30 yuan for a three-star rating. If a nurse receives a rating of two stars or below, Anxin Peizhen will terminate the cooperation. This compensation (covering the period from last Friday to this Thursday) is disbursed to the nurses before the end of work hours each Friday. Furthermore, these nurses are organized into groups of 60, with the top three performers in each group receiving varying monetary rewards. Wu Jianhua also stated, “We treat these nurses as our formal employees, organizing several collective activities each month and inviting them to participate in interactive events alongside our staff.”

While building its reputation through grassroots promotion, Anxin Peizhen is also actively collaborating with the Beijing Municipal Government. Currently, Anxin Peizhen has partnered with select communities to provide medical escort services for elderly residents. According to Wu Jianhua, this government collaboration not only delivers services to senior citizens in these communities but also enhances the company’s public credibility.

Anxin Peizhen has purchased accident insurance for every user to mitigate legal and financial risks. In the event of an accident during the medical consultation process, patients will receive insurance compensation ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 yuan. This measure also allows nurses providing services to work with greater peace of mind.

Anxin Peizhen is currently in the midst of its Series A financing round. Upon completion of the round, expected in September, the company plans to establish branch offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen, as well as representative offices in Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Xi’an. “This is primarily because many large enterprises locate their regional branches or headquarters in these two cities, and B2B services constitute a significant portion of our business.”
