Recently, Illumina Accelerator has invested in four new projects, demonstrating strong growth momentum. So, what are its areas of focus? Which projects has it invested in? Below, VCBeat provides you with a comprehensive overview.
Illumina Accelerator is a subsidiary of Illumina, a renowned U.S.-based gene sequencing company that has emerged as one of the industry’s leading players. The company is dedicated to unlocking the powerful potential of the genome, including the development of genomics-related technologies and the application of bioinformatics. To achieve this goal, Illumina has partnered with other organizations, such as Silicon Valley Bank, to fund and launch the “Illumina Accelerator” program, which aims to advance genomics-related initiatives. This program primarily supports early-stage startups developing novel sequencing applications.
Companies or organizations selected for the “Illumina Accelerator” program receive robust technical and financial support (with a $100,000 grant per startup) and access to gene sequencing systems and equipment, thereby fostering a dynamic genomics industry ecosystem. This is Illumina’s genomic sequencing incubation program. Currently, the “Illumina Accelerator” has entered its third round (the application deadline for the fourth round was March 1, 2016), with each application cycle lasting six months. Listed below are the projects previously invested in by Illumina Accelerator, along with the beneficiary companies.
