U Tang is a private health management app under Shanghai Youyi Network Technology Co., Ltd. Its main function is to provide post-diagnosis tracking and health management services for diabetic patients. U Tang has two versions: users can scientifically control blood sugar changes through the “U Tang” app, while doctors can easily manage patients through the “U Tang Doctor” app.

U-Tang’s distinctive feature is its launch of a wide range of smart wearable devices for patients with diabetes, including ZigBee- and Bluetooth-enabled product lines. These devices enable self-monitoring, lifelong recording, and collection of user data, while a team of expert physicians provides real-time monitoring and management of the data.

Since the release of U-Tang 1.0 in April 2014, U-Tang has undergone three major version upgrades: U-Tang 2.0 was released in August 2014, U-Tang 3.0 in December 2014, and version 4.0 in 2015. On January 11, yesterday, U-Tang officially announced the establishment of its remote management platform for chronic diseases, built upon the latest version 4.0 infrastructure.

At the press conference for the “U-Tang: Simple Love” and Remote Managed Care Platform for Chronic Diseases, U-Tang invited leaders from relevant national government agencies, national experts in endocrinology and diabetes, executives from renowned domestic hospitals, heads of leading Chinese healthcare enterprises, and dozens of strategic partner companies to attend and deliver speeches.

A representative from U-Tang also introduced the platform: it primarily targets patients with chronic diseases, providing them with the most professional and comprehensive out-of-hospital health services, including real-time analysis, intervention, re-analysis, and re-intervention of their conditions. Through online and offline health consultations and chronic disease case management services, the platform establishes the most scientific health management records for each patient.

Specifically, the remote managed care platform for chronic diseases comprises four components: smart hardware, a monitoring center, a mobile app, and offline experience services. The U-Tang 4.0 hardware suite, featuring blood pressure monitors, glucometers, body fat scales, and the U-Tang Box, meets daily data measurement needs. Data is uploaded to the U-Tang Remote Monitoring Center for analysis and then synced to the app, enabling remote physicians to promptly provide assessments and interventions based on the data. Meanwhile, offline experience centers offer one-on-one guidance to patients and regularly host activities such as peer support groups for individuals with diabetes and expert lectures.

Ms. Eva, Vice President, also provided a detailed introduction to U Tang’s specialized remote managed care services. The managed care services of U Tang mainly consist of three aspects, namely the “Three-Step Managed Care Process”: assessment, intervention, and implementation of the care plan.

At the assessment level, there are three dimensions. The first dimension is medical history assessment: U Tang conducts a comprehensive medical history evaluation of diabetic patients by collecting data and information such as their past medical history, family history, history of present illness, dietary history, and psychosocial history. The second dimension involves collecting patient physical examination data, including laboratory test results from samples such as blood, urine, hair, and saliva, to comprehensively assess the patient’s biochemical status. The third dimension is real-time tracking and assessment, which monitors the effectiveness of the implemented intervention plan.

Part II: Intervention or Health Management Services. U-Tang’s health management for users covers five major areas: dietary management, exercise management, mindset management, lifestyle management, and dietary conditioning. U-Tang management features standardized quantification and the flexibility for real-time adjustments.

Part III refers to the implementation projects of the execution plan, which are primarily carried out through online and offline interactions between staff and patients, including telephone consultations, face-to-face consultations, offline health management centers, and community centers.

Ms. EVA stated that the significance of U-Tang’s managed care service lies in its ability to reverse pathological changes in patients with early-stage diabetes, potentially even preventing the onset of the disease, while also delaying the progression of chronic diabetes, thereby enhancing and improving quality of life.

In addition, Chen Xiaofeng, CEO of U-Tang, stated that the company has currently partnered with nearly ten offline experience centers and aims to expand its network to 100 physical examination centers by 2016. To date, U-Tang has established strategic partnerships with prominent enterprises such as Ali Health, Sinopharm Online, Alibaba Cloud, and GO Health. In the future, U-Tang will roll out a diverse range of services, including O2O home blood collection by nurses, offline operations at Ruijing Hospital, overseas medical care management in Okinawa, Japan, and self-monitoring of dynamic blood glucose levels using Guangju Technology’s solutions.

Finally, the launch event of U-Tang Health’s “Simple Love Project” also included a plaque-awarding ceremony for 10 offline experience centers.
