mPulse Mobile recently announced that it had raised $10 million in Series A financing. The company, a provider of mobile healthcare engagement solutions, was spun off from the healthcare division of mobileStorm. This round was led by HLM Venture Partners, with participation from OCA Ventures, Merrick Ventures, and Jumpstart Ventures. The capital will help the company further enhance its analytics capabilities and technology, while continuing to penetrate and expand its consumer healthcare market.

mPulse is a unique organization focused on changes in the social environment of consumers, aiming to build a digital healthcare network based on current social networks and mobile platforms, thereby facilitating faster and more efficient communication between healthcare institutions and patients. mPulse Mobile has continued to grow and expand in recent years, with the following core advantages:

1. Content: Whether for search clicks or information push notifications, as a provider, mPulse Mobile creates highly authentic and resonant content.

2. Technologically: With the proliferation of mobile devices not only in the United States but also worldwide, they are becoming the primary channel for digital interactive communication. The era of mobile internet will enable mPulse Mobile to accurately and rapidly disseminate cutting-edge professional medical knowledge to users, thereby enhancing basic health literacy and boosting patient engagement.

3. Media Environment: The dynamic evolution of social media has not only expanded opportunities for doctor-patient communication and facilitated the collection of valuable information, but also placed greater emphasis on brand effects, demanding deeper levels of openness, authenticity, and engagement.

mPulse Mobile has developed a cloud-based smartphone messaging solution that complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Its preconfigured messaging workflows address significant challenges faced by many health plans, pharmaceutical companies, and healthcare providers, such as missed appointments, medication adherence, and disease management. The company’s services focus on integrating system databases with personalized data to enhance message relevance. mPulse Mobile stands as a successful example of cross-mobile-channel engagement, leveraging innovative technologies—including sentiment scoring, natural language processing, and predictive analytics—to strengthen its core competitiveness.

In terms of product functionality, the company supports secure push notifications, enables self-service features, facilitates communication regarding claims, allows users to view account balances or other alerts, and more. This not only reduces operational costs but also enhances user satisfaction. For physicians, real-time appointment management and communication with patients significantly improve work efficiency, reduce no-shows, and offer greater flexibility. For pharmaceutical companies, helping customers manage their conditions enables the optimization of Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs, prevents medication errors, and maximizes therapeutic efficacy.

mPulse Mobile has consistently collaborated with pioneers in the digital health sector, including partnerships such as that with Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP). IEHP is a rapidly growing non-profit health plan operating in California, USA, providing high-quality medical services to over 1.1 million members across the state. IEHP is actively collaborating with mPulse on co-development initiatives, aiming to deploy an in-system mobile messaging feature designed to enhance user engagement and convenience, thereby improving clinical outcomes.

“We have always kept a close eye on healthcare, which is our company’s most valued and the only prominently highlighted core initiative. In the process of delivering solutions to mobile consumers, our company has accumulated extensive practical experience. For organizations in need of vendors, health plans, pharmaceuticals, and population health solutions, we are their ideal partner,” said Chris Nicholson, CEO of mPulse Mobile, in an official statement. “This additional investment will help us further refine the analytics and behavioral models currently in use, deliver optimal user experiences across millions of mobile touchpoints, enable customers to engage through two-way dialogues rather than one-sided monologues, enhance the quality of healthcare services, and truly improve treatment outcomes.”

In 2015, the company acquired certain assets of the healthcare division of U.S.-based Archer Company to consolidate its position and expand its influence, thereby helping medical organizations and healthcare providers deliver user engagement solutions and facilitating business expansion.
