Recently, 100Biotech, China’s first medical research consulting and technology services company, secured tens of millions of RMB in Series A financing from Hangzhou Rushan Venture Capital Co., Ltd. Founded in 2010, 100Biotech specializes in customizing scientific research solutions for clinicians, offering research consulting and technical services that include study design, project implementation, data analysis, and report summarization. Data indicates that most hospitals currently lack the necessary infrastructure to fully support research projects. Additionally, clinicians often do not have sufficient time to conduct related scientific research. These gaps represent the market opportunity for 100Biotech’s research consulting and technology services. The proceeds from this funding round will be primarily used for market expansion and further enhancement of its technology platform.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, 100Biotech currently operates centers in Zhejiang and Shanghai. Operational centers in Beijing, Nanjing, and other major cities are under construction and will commence operations in the near future. Over the next two years, the company’s business footprint will gradually expand to more than a dozen major cities, including Guangzhou.

Next, 100Biotech will also consider expanding its business reach through channel partnerships. Zhang Ke, Director of Strategic Cooperation at the company, told VCBeat that existing collaborations between some internet healthcare platforms and physicians are relatively loose; the key to enhancing physician-platform stickiness lies in meeting physicians’ intrinsic needs. “Clearly, our scientific research consulting and technical service platform can serve as a strong support for physicians’ career development, thereby strengthening their engagement with the platform.” It is reported that more than 70% of 100Biotech’s collaborative clients are clinicians with associate senior titles or above from tertiary Grade A hospitals, and over 50% are nationally renowned experts in scientific research. Notably, Hangzhou Rushan Venture Capital Co., Ltd. was one of the investors in Spring Rain Doctor’s Series C financing round. 100Biotech has established a comprehensive scientific and technical service platform system, including platforms for medical molecular biology, medical cell biology, and disease animal models. The company plans to further expand its technical service scope in the future and improve the platforms currently under development for disease electrophysiology, medical nanomaterials, and medical genetics and pathology.

Expanding and upgrading the existing team is also a key priority for 100Biotech this year. It is reported that by the end of this year, 100Biotech will grow from its current workforce of nearly 100 employees to over 400. The majority of members in its scientific consulting team will have overseas study and work experience at world-renowned research institutions, while the vast majority of its technical services team will hold master’s degrees or higher from prestigious universities. Indeed, scientific consulting and technical services are Dr. Guo Lei’s core expertise. As the founder, Dr. Guo boasts over 20 years of experience in basic medical research, eight years at top-tier global research institutions, and six years of entrepreneurial experience in the scientific consulting and technical services sector. He was once the youngest professor and doctoral supervisor at Zhejiang University School of Medicine, served as Director of the Department of Pathobiology, and founded both the Department of Medical Genetics and the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Disease Models and Simulation at Zhejiang University, holding positions such as Director and Deputy Director. He spent a total of eight years studying and working at Harvard Medical School on two separate occasions, serving as a Visiting Scholar, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, and Lecturer.

Since its inception, 100Biotech, under the leadership of Dr. Guo Lei, set a clear goal: to become a leading brand in the field of medical research consulting and technical services within five years. Throughout its business operations, 100Biotech has gradually established its corporate vision and mission—“Leading Medical Research, Enhancing National Health” and “Making Medical Research Easier.”
