Aiding Fertility Preparation (also known as Dr. Aiding) is a professional preconception and fertility assistance service founded by a medical team of returnees from Harvard University in the United States. By integrating an online app with offline clinics, Aiding Fertility Preparation provides an integrated eugenics-based fertility support service that helps users comprehensively improve their chances and quality of conception across multiple dimensions: medical, lifestyle, and psychological (i-MLP).

Both online and offline services are necessary.

Currently, Aiding’s online preconception care initiatives primarily include the Aiding Preconception App, its WeChat Official Account, and video-based preconception courses, mainly providing users with lightweight services.

According to reports, the Aiding Preconception App is a mobile health product that enters the market at the initial preconception stage, employing a unique algorithm simulating clinical physicians to provide services aimed at achieving optimal pregnancy outcomes. It covers specialized fields such as reproductive endocrinology, eugenic preconception care, infertility, and assisted reproductive technology. The app provides risk assessment and evaluation of disease-related factors/conditions for young individuals seeking conception, while offering reminders to improve lifestyle habits and guidance on seeking medical care.

Meanwhile, the Aiding Preconception App also features a “Quick Ask-a-Doctor” function, allowing users to obtain professional clarification and advice from physicians for minor medical concerns. The platform’s physician network comprises nearly 10,000 specialists across China in the fields of infertility and assisted reproductive technology.

On WeChat, users can also receive feedback from doctors. Additionally, WeChat regularly pushes preconception care knowledge and courses to users, such as preconception exercises.

Aiding also operates a nationwide telemedicine program, providing remote consultations via phone and video calls, which is currently its only paid online service. Bi Ye stated that while the company will explore new online revenue streams in the future, it is unlikely to venture into e-commerce, as its primary focus remains on delivering services and solutions.

In its offline operations, Aiding Fertility positions itself as providing “light clinical care.” Currently, Aiding Fertility operates one outpatient clinic in Shanghai’s CBD, offering services such as examinations, diagnosis, pharmacological treatment, and physical conditioning. Bi Ye told VCBeat that in 2016, Aiding Fertility planned to open four additional offline outpatient clinics in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Wuxi, and Suzhou.

While positioning itself for light clinical care, Aiding Clinic has also established partnerships with domestic Grade 3A hospitals and select overseas medical institutions to address more severe treatment needs, thereby creating a seamless end-to-end fertility service. Unlike platforms that simply assist patients in securing appointments with specialists, Aiding provides initial light clinical assessments through its own medical services. Only when specialist intervention is deemed necessary does Aiding collaborate with relevant experts for advanced treatments, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and hysteroscopic/laparoscopic procedures.

It is understood that Aiding Fertility Preparation has established partnerships with Shanghai Renji Hospital, JiAi Hospital, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Health Care Hospital, and Zhongshan Hospital, among others. It also collaborates with partner hospitals in Thailand, the United States, and Japan.

In addition, Aiding has partnered with projects such as Renmajun and Yunlü to provide users with more comprehensive services. Meanwhile, Aiding also offers relevant training courses to its partner teams. Although user stickiness in the fertility treatment sector is not particularly high, Bi Ye is not concerned about this issue. Bi Ye stated, “We have already served nearly 600,000 users. In fact, many of these users were referred by other competitors. We will provide the best possible service to these users and realize our business model through service delivery.”

Proprietary i-MLPPreconception Care Philosophy

Based on the recognition that online and offline services are equally important, Aiding has pioneered the i-MLP preconception care concept, assisting users in their pregnancy preparation from three dimensions: Medical, Life, and Psychological.

Providing lifestyle interventions and guidance to users is a key component of Aiding’s preconception care services. Bi Ye stated, “In addition to medical assistance, behavioral and psychological factors also play a crucial role in preconception preparation.” Beyond offering healthy preconception guidance through its app and WeChat platform, Aiding has established a dedicated team that collaborates with cross-disciplinary experts to develop a series of specialized courses and services covering psychology, nutrition, fitness, and other related areas.

Furthermore, as a significant proportion of women and their families still hold irrational perceptions about preconception care—oscillating between two extremes of underestimation and overemphasis—Aiding also conducts educational outreach to users through both online and offline channels to address psychological aspects related to preconception awareness.

The preconception care philosophy of iMLP synergizes with Aiding’s hybrid online-offline entrepreneurial model. “We will leverage fertility treatment concepts and methodologies, such as those offered by MLP, to deliver our online and offline physical medical services,” said Bi Ye. “Aiding is committed to providing unique service value and a comprehensive service ecosystem for users in the field of eugenic-assisted conception.”

It is reported that in 2014, Aiding Fertility secured multi-million-dollar financing from Shunwei Capital. Currently, Aiding Fertility is undergoing its next round of financing, with the funds primarily allocated to establishing offline chain clinics and developing its proprietary service system and methodology, thereby addressing issues related to service implementation and customer experience.
