Forgoing IVF due to exorbitant costs is a painful reality for many families. To enable more patients to receive scientific treatment as soon as possible, QuYun APP, a startup that has just secured RMB 60 million in Series A funding from BlueRun Ventures, has launched a new initiative: it plans to invest up to RMB 10 million to partner with top reproductive centers both in China and abroad, introducing a campaign titled “Free IVF, Bring a Baby Home,” which offers eligible couples the opportunity to undergo IVF treatment free of charge.
Public information indicates that this event was conducted in collaboration with leading domestic tertiary hospitals, which are also regional leaders: Shenyang Jinghua Hospital, the birthplace of the first test-tube baby in the three northeastern provinces; The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, home to the Hebei Reproductive Medicine Center; and Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, the specialized hospital with the highest annual delivery volume in Shanghai. The technical expertise of these hospitals ensures high success rates for patient treatments.
QuYun announced that the registration period for this campaign will last for two months. Patients can register by downloading the QuYun app from major app markets. Couples who meet the specified medical criteria will be granted a complimentary opportunity. After registration, dedicated staff will contact the patients and facilitate appointment scheduling at clinics in their respective cities. Upon approval, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and test-tube baby treatments will be administered. Throughout the process, specialists will develop tailored treatment plans for each stage, including sperm collection, ovulation induction, oocyte retrieval, and embryo transfer. Patients who do not fully meet the eligibility criteria will still receive certain discounts on examination and testing fees. Additionally, all registered users will receive gifts of varying values provided by 360 NiCaifu, Ayi Bang, YaoGeili, and Mother & Baby Home.
Yu Pan, co-founder of QuYun, stated that after the initial registration period concluded, QuYun would collaborate with additional Grade A tertiary hospitals to continue the subsidy program, with the total cumulative subsidy amount reaching up to RMB 10 million, accounting for nearly 20% of QuYun’s Series A financing round. When asked why a startup would commit to such large-scale subsidies, Yu explained that the primary pain point for individuals facing infertility is identifying suitable hospitals and treatment plans; these patients typically seek out renowned specialists and major hospitals. However, in practice, a particular expert may not necessarily be the best fit for a patient’s specific condition. “QuYun provides patient-specific solutions derived through big data algorithms. Patients simply need to input their detailed medical information into the QuYun system to receive a targeted treatment plan. This is an intelligent self-diagnosis system for patients based on big data, and we aim to raise awareness among patients about the importance of precision medicine,” said Yu Pan.
“Many patients fail to conceive within a year, yet they firmly believe there is ‘nothing wrong’ with them and wish to keep trying. As they continue attempting, time passes, their age advances, and fertility becomes increasingly difficult,” Yu Pan further stated. “Through this campaign, we aim to convey to all users that assisted reproductive technology (ART) for treating infertility is a scientific medical practice and nothing to be ashamed of. Individuals experiencing infertility or subfertility should adopt a more scientific approach and seek medical intervention earlier.”
BlueRun Ventures, the Series A investor in the QuYun app, stated that QuYun has addressed the significant gaps in patient experience within the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. By providing valuable services to patients and enhancing their care experience through both online and offline channels, QuYun benefits patients and ensures efficient use of resources—an operational approach supported by BlueRun. Public records indicate that QuYun was founded in March 2014. It secured RMB 5 million in angel funding in April 2014, RMB 30 million in Pre-Series A funding from Huaze Capital in June 2015, and RMB 60 million in Series A funding from BlueRun Ventures in February 2016.
