April 18: “A Drop of Spring Rain, Confidence Against H. pylori”—Public Welfare Campaign for Helicobacter pylori Screening Launched in Beijing. From April 18 to April 30, residents in Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Guangzhou can register via multiple channels, including the Chunyu Yisheng (Spring Rain Doctor) APP and the Life Times WeChat platform, to receive complimentary Helicobacter pylori testing with free Didi Premier rides. Residents in Shanghai and Guangzhou who test positive will be eligible for free consultation and treatment services provided by gastroenterology specialists at Chunyu Clinics.

This public welfare initiative was jointly launched by the health communication media outlet Life Times, in collaboration with global pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca China, leading mobile healthcare provider Chunyu Doctor, Didi Enterprise Edition (the corporate ride-hailing platform under Didi Chuxing), and Helicobacter pylori testing company Huagen Anbang. The program offers 6,500 free screening slots, aiming to improve the current status of Helicobacter pylori screening, prevention, and treatment in China, enhance public understanding of the correlation between Helicobacter pylori and gastric cancer, and encourage more citizens to prioritize gastric health.
Helicobacter pylori is a primary pathogenic factor for chronic active gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric cancer, and has been classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a Group I carcinogen, the highest risk category. Helicobacter pylori infection has been confirmed in 78% of gastric cancer patients, with an infection rate of 89% among those with non-cardia gastric cancer. Currently, over 40% of gastric cancer patients worldwide are from China, and the link between Helicobacter pylori and gastric cancer has been firmly established.
According to Zhang Lian, a researcher at Beijing Cancer Hospital who attended the meeting: “In accordance with China’s Fourth Consensus on the Management of Helicobacter pylori Infection, H. pylori–positive patients who also present with peptic ulcer disease, gastric MALT lymphoma, chronic gastritis accompanied by dyspepsia, chronic gastritis with gastric mucosal atrophy or erosion, early-stage gastric cancer that has undergone endoscopic resection or subtotal gastrectomy, or a family history of gastric cancer should receive eradication therapy with bismuth-containing quadruple therapy as soon as possible. We urge these high-risk individuals to seek timely diagnosis and definitive eradication treatment, taking responsibility for their own health.”
Implementing the "Healthy China" strategy and improving the health status of the entire population are shared goals of the government and socially responsible enterprises. This cross-sector collaboration brings together industry leaders from media, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and other fields. It represents an extension and innovation of the "Internet + Healthcare" model, empowering traditional diagnosis and treatment with digital capabilities. As a result, the public can access medical services with maximum convenience at their fingertips.
At the press conference, Wang Lei, President of AstraZeneca China, stated, “This collaboration with multiple industry leaders has established a fast-track channel for the diagnosis and treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection, serving as the strongest testament to AstraZeneca’s unwavering patient-centric approach. As a responsible enterprise in the digital era, we are committed not only to providing high-quality medicines to the public but also to leveraging complementary strengths through external partnerships. This enables our transition from offering single products to delivering comprehensive disease management, thereby better serving patients in China.”
Zhang Rui, Founder and CEO of Chunyu Doctor, stated, “As a pioneer in mobile healthcare, Chunyu is committed to providing convenient and effective solutions for users, thereby saving the time and costs associated with seeking medical care. Currently, Chunyu Doctor is striving to refine its ‘Online-to-Offline’ (O+O) service model by directing patients to offline facilities for issues that cannot be resolved online, thus offering a comprehensive service process. The public welfare campaign launched jointly by Chunyu Doctor, AstraZeneca, and Didi Chuxing Enterprise Edition represents a vertical application of this model.”
VCBeat had the honor of attending the launch ceremony of this public welfare initiative and posed a question to Professor Zhang Lian regarding the potential benefits of mobile health in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer. Professor Zhang Lian stated that big data would not provide substantial assistance in cancer diagnosis and treatment within the next 30 years. In contrast, Professor Shi Yong remarked that although big data currently cannot offer substantial support for precision therapy, it can aid in auxiliary decision-making for cancer care. Much like the skilled butcher Ding who effortlessly dissects an ox by understanding its anatomical structure, big data can help clarify the underlying structures in cancer management.
