On April 18, 2016, with a focus on the “perinatal period,” Angel Doctor partnered with Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital to launch the “Perinatal Health Management System,” providing comprehensive internet-based perinatal health management services for pregnant women and parturients, spanning from hospital to home and covering both maternal and fetal care.

Starting this May, pregnant women visiting the Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital will be able to manage their weight, nutrition, and blood glucose levels from home. Through the physician workstation, doctors can monitor health data in real time, including maternal heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, and weight, as well as fetal heart rate and fetal movements. This enables timely identification of high-risk factors and prompt recommendations for medical consultation, thereby providing more convenient prenatal care services, particularly for high-risk populations.

To date, over 400 hospitals across China have implemented the “Angel Doctor” Perinatal Health Management system, including Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Beijing Xuanwu Hospital, Guangdong Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and Shaanxi Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital. A team of obstetrics and gynecology experts from organizations such as the Chinese Maternal and Child Health Association, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Northwest Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Shanghai Red House Hospital (Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University) has provided robust medical technical support to the Perinatal Health Management Center.

It is understood that the Angel Doctor Perinatal Health Management System comprises a hospital-based perinatal health management center, a mobile application for pregnant women, and a mobile application for physicians. Its functional modules include a hospital management platform, a weight and nutrition management system, a diabetes management system, a remote fetal heart rate monitoring system, and a pregnancy-induced hypertension management system. Following the launch of this system at Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital, pregnant women who register for maternity records and undergo prenatal check-ups at the hospital can download the mobile app to promptly access hospital announcements, appointment information, and schedules for prenatal classes. They can watch video lectures from the prenatal school online without leaving home, as well as book and check in for offline classes, thereby improving the coverage of health education and enhancing doctor-patient communication. By using smart Bluetooth medical devices connected to the mobile app, pregnant women can record and monitor their health status in real time, establishing personalized digital prenatal records. When health data falls outside the normal range, the hospital workstation system automatically triggers an alert, reminding the pregnant woman to seek medical attention promptly. Meanwhile, physicians can provide personalized treatment plans based on the data to better monitor the health of both the mother and the fetus. In the future, the system will further integrate functions such as appointment registration and WeChat Pay to facilitate prenatal care for pregnant women.

Aligning with the Development Trends of "Big Data" and "Internet+"

“Big Data” and “Internet Plus” represent future development trends. Shifting certain hospital medical services online to enable mobile healthcare can effectively alleviate outpatient pressure, optimize patient experience, improve diagnostic and treatment efficiency, and reduce disease incidence.

Angel Doctor Perinatal Health Management System provides a comprehensive solution for pregnancy monitoring and health management to hospitals, physicians, and pregnant women against the backdrop of “Big Data” and “Internet Plus.” It effectively alleviates constraints caused by insufficient physical resources in hospitals. By connecting wearable smart monitoring devices, leveraging mobile internet, and integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the system achieves real-time, seamless data-driven connectivity among hospitals, physicians, and pregnant women, thereby organically combining in-hospital and out-of-hospital perinatal monitoring. Health data—including heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature, weight, urinalysis, electrocardiogram (ECG), as well as fetal heart rate and fetal movement—are transmitted via “cloud interaction” through the platform’s central monitoring center and provided to hospitals in real time. This not only supplies data support for academic research in obstetrics and gynecology, enabling a big-data-level understanding of physiological changes during pregnancy, but also facilitates the timely detection of individual variations among pregnant women. Consequently, it allows for the provision of targeted, personalized medical plans to better safeguard the health of both mothers and fetuses.

The Angel Doctor Perinatal Health Management System will deliver tangible benefits in the following areas:

1. By monitoring real-time home health data, hospitals can promptly assess and intervene when abnormalities are detected. This approach provides more convenient prenatal care services for high-risk populations, reduces the incidence of gestational hypertension, hyperglycemia, and macrosomia, lowers neonatal mortality rates, and enhances hospitals’ perinatal health management capabilities for maternal patients.

II. Enhance the standard of medical care in hospitals and reduce healthcare costs. By enabling pregnant women to perform tests at home, hospitals can save on human resource costs and ensure the rational utilization of their resources.

III. Enhancing physicians' work efficiency. Achieving automatic entry of pregnant women's information to reduce errors and alleviate the workload of healthcare professionals.

IV. Enhance the Patient Experience and Improve Service Quality. Optimize healthcare processes to save time for pregnant women, enhance the hospital’s image, and improve service quality.

V. Build a strong bridge for doctor-patient communication to reduce medical disputes. Implement unified management for pregnant women and establish individual health records.

VI. Enhance the maternal and child healthcare capabilities of maternal and child health institutions; integrate medical resources from primary and secondary care institutions to improve resource utilization at these levels, thereby alleviating pressure on tertiary medical institutions; facilitate the advancement of eugenics and healthy childbirth, and significantly promote the informatization of maternal and child healthcare services.

It is reported that Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital, in partnership with Angel Doctor, has implemented various measures since the introduction of the national two-child policy. Building upon its already robust medical resources and high-quality services, the hospital has collaborated with 160 to establish a “full-process online hospital,” launched specialized clinics including the “Two-Child Clinic,” “Scarred Uterus Clinic,” and a “Green Channel for Two-Child Pregnant Women.” Additionally, the new Fuqiang Campus building, housing eight clinical centers, is currently under construction; Phase III of the Maternal and Child Health Rehabilitation Building is in preparation; and the “Three Famous Projects” initiative is being vigorously promoted. These efforts aim to meet the diagnostic and treatment needs of mothers pregnant with their second child, particularly those of advanced maternal age, and to safeguard maternal and fetal health. This collaboration with Angel Doctor seeks to provide more humanized services and attentive care, benefiting a larger number of expectant mothers and ensuring greater efficiency in protecting the well-being of both mother and fetus.
