On April 19, Elite Tiancheng announced that it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with UK-based Jiukang Medical to jointly establish the “China-UK Health and Medical Big Data Innovation Application Research Center.” Through this partnership, Elite Tiancheng will gain access to advanced foreign medical big data technologies, which will significantly advance its health big data strategy.

Background Introduction of Both Parties

According to reports, UK Jiukang Medical Co., Ltd. is registered in Leeds, West Yorkshire, and specializes in the field of public health. The company is a member of an EU-sponsored consortium, pioneering innovative technologies in the use of big data. It leads 22 partners across eight countries, covering four flagship areas: Euheart (coronary heart disease), VPHOP (osteoporosis), Virolab (viral diseases), and @neurIST (cerebral aneurysms).

Guizhou Elite Tiancheng Technology Co., Ltd. is a professional provider specializing in the development of blood information software for the healthcare industry, the R&D and manufacturing of intelligent devices, and comprehensive solutions. The company pioneered China’s first holistic solution for seamless management of blood resource platforms, addressing long-standing challenges faced by blood management authorities at all levels regarding seamless supervision and data sharing. By integrating central blood stations, plasmapheresis stations, hospitals, biological product manufacturers, and health administrative departments at all levels into an integrated software platform, it enables real-time oversight of blood management. Currently, Elite Tiancheng’s Plasmapheresis Station Management System serves over 50 clients nationwide, while its Clinical Blood Use Management System has more than 600 users.

Specific Cooperation Details

The announcement states that the specific content of the cooperation between the two parties is: establishing a research center in the form of joint research, and industrializing the research results. The specific directions are:

1. Translational Research on the Informatization and Systematization of Healthcare in the United Kingdom within China;

2. Data analysis methods, application research, and data model development for big data in public health and medical care;

3. Innovation in Big Data Methods and Technologies for Intelligent Digital Healthcare;

4. Research on “Technological Innovation and Cooperation in the Chinese and British Healthcare Industries”;

5. For research topics mutually identified as urgently needed, the parties may self-fund the project initiation and complete it collaboratively with participation from personnel of both sides.

It is understood that Elite Tiancheng began its strategic deployment in the field of medical big data in 2016. On February 1, 2016, Elite Tiancheng signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Institute of Blood Transfusion, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, to jointly establish the “National Clinical Blood Use Health Big Data Analysis and Application Research Center.” The agreement stipulates that both parties will jointly conduct analysis of national clinical blood use and blood-related data, as well as research on blood donor recruitment and related operational strategies, and data optimization.

VCBeat Analysis: Due to technological limitations, the medical big data sector has not yet entered a period of explosive growth. Jingying Tiancheng’s move represents a long-term investment driven by optimism about the future prospects of medical big data. Currently, Jingying Tiancheng has established a data network for single-donor plasmapheresis station management systems across China. Leveraging this as an entry point, the company is combining the resource advantages of the Institute of Blood Transfusion at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences with Jiukang Medical’s advanced overseas big data technologies. This strategic partnership aims to create a comprehensive medical big data industry chain.

Development Background of Medical Big Data

Characteristics of Big Data in Healthcare: Comprising Four MajorTypical Characteristics: Large Data Scale, Diverse Data Structures, Rapid Data Growth, and High Data Value.

Demand for Medical Big Data:

1. Enterprises: Pharmaceutical companies, internet insurance providers, medical device manufacturers, and other enterprises can leverage big data to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

2. Doctor-Patient Relationship: Tiered diagnosis and treatment, along with medical big data, can reshape the doctor-patient relationship and alleviate the problems of long queues for registration, waiting, and payment at large hospitals.
