DoctorNote is a big data storage and analytics platform built on medical records. It aims to present information in a user-friendly manner for easy comprehension, while also delivering a professional-grade product tailored for physicians. Twenty percent of the DoctorNote team consists of medical professionals, whose foundational work involves data recognition and who actively seek solutions to enhance the product experience for clinicians from a clinical medicine perspective.
Jiang Huiliang, CEO of DoctorNote
During an interview with reporters, Jiang Huiliang, CEO of Doctornote, stated, “What is the most fundamental language in clinical medicine? It is the medical case. Each real-world case, with its symptoms, signs, laboratory and imaging findings, and treatment modalities woven between the lines, constitutes this language. Medical cases are the most concise universal language we can find.”
“If medical cases are like unpolished jade, we sift through the sand to reveal the gem, allowing physicians to use them as building blocks for structures, as bridges, or simply as ornaments. For patients, we state our purpose clearly from the outset: we inform them how many individuals share similar conditions, what treatments those individuals received, and what the actual clinical outcomes were. In this way, when physicians explain the condition, patients can place greater trust—not in any specific person or individual practitioner, but in the knowledge itself. We simply respect the truth hidden within medical cases, a truth that everyone has the right to know.” This is how Jiang Huiliang summarized the design philosophy of the product.
“In the Old Testament, God caused people to speak different languages to halt the construction of the Tower of Babel. These differing languages led to ‘confusion,’ and ‘confusion’ is the meaning of ‘Babel,’ hence the name ‘Tower of Babel.’ To bridge divides, nothing is more important than finding a common language.” Gao Fan, Medical Director, believes that medical cases “translated” by Doctornote will become an Esperanto for communication among various roles in clinical medicine. While the entire team focuses on its practicality, they also place high hopes on its social value. He noted that lowering the threshold for accessing medical information, breaking down barriers, and respecting objectivity serve as a strong stepping stone toward alleviating the challenges faced by stakeholders across the healthcare sector.
To facilitate the collection and review of case data, Doctornote’s product is currently available as a web-based platform, with mobile app clients to be gradually introduced in later stages. Jiang Huiliang noted that every step in the product’s development inevitably requires extensive deliberation, validation, and refinement. However, guided by original intent and patience, we are confident in delivering a true “platform” rather than creating new barriers. He quoted a famous remark by Alexis de Tocqueville, the renowned political thinker and scholar of the revolutionary era: “They call on me to stir up passions, but I believe that instead of stirring up passions, it is better to love liberty and cherish human dignity.”
“Amidst the surging tide of online healthcare, passion is in ample supply, and sentimental marketing is hardly rare. Yet those who truly harbor high hopes and adhere to a sincere approach need not resort to emotional extravagance. Thus, while our journey begins with emotion, the shore we seek in our hearts must be forged by reason and attitude. It is this conviction that brings me here today, together with my team, to outline our vision for the future,” said Jiang Huiliang with a smile.
It is understood that the core team members of Doctornote are predominantly renowned experts from BAT (Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent) and top-tier tertiary hospitals, and Doctornote has secured strategic investment from Dingdang Kuaiyao.
