Yunbao is a mobile application developed by Chengdu Medix Technology Co., Ltd. that provides users with pregnancy-related knowledge and medical service experiences. The project establishes an information communication platform between pregnant women and hospitals, aiming to enhance the prenatal life experience for expectant mothers.
With a vast population of pregnant women, Yunbao helps users communicate and coordinate with hospitals in a timely manner.
Chengdu Medix Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2015, and its product, Yunbao, was officially launched on September 12, 2015. Currently, Yunbao provides users with services such as online management of prenatal records, prenatal check-up reminders, interpretation of prenatal examination reports, online communication with experts, and hospital announcements and notifications, helping users stay informed about their prenatal check-up information and hospital updates in a timely manner.
In 2010, the number of pregnant women in China was approximately 13 to 15 million. In 2013, there were 16.3 million newborns nationwide. In 2015, the population of pregnant women in China was around 14 million, with 16.55 million newborns recorded that same year, averaging one birth every four seconds; thus, preconception care represents a vast market. Yunbao’s primary users include individuals who are preparing for pregnancy, currently pregnant, or have already given birth and require hospital visitation services.

Yunbao provides hospitals with online medical record management, enabling pregnant women to obtain one-click interpretations of their prenatal checkup results on the platform.
Currently, there are several similar software products on the Chinese market. Li Yongfeng, Operations Manager at Yunbao, stated that Yunbao’s competitive advantage lies in achieving deep integration between hospitals and users. First, the application provides hospitals with an online profile management platform. Pregnant women can create prenatal records on Yunbao; once these records are reviewed by hospital staff via the backend system, they are seamlessly synced with the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR) system. The entire process, from data entry to completion of review, takes approximately two minutes, eliminating the burden of manual EMR creation for hospital staff and improving operational efficiency. Meanwhile, the Yunbao app features a hospital homepage section where hospitals can publish announcements, patient care guides, and prenatal education courses. The platform can also send notifications to remind users to attend scheduled check-ups, with upcoming prenatal visit dates displayed prominently on the user’s home screen. Additionally, Yunbao includes survey tools tailored for hospitals, facilitating the collection of user feedback and suggestions. Another key feature allows pregnant women to upload images of their prenatal examination reports to the platform. Physicians on the platform help interpret these results and assess whether further clinical consultation is necessary. This online report interpretation service enables pregnant women to promptly understand their own and their fetus’s health status, addressing their desire for immediate access to test results, while also alleviating some of the workload for hospitals. The app also incorporates sections for prenatal encyclopedia knowledge, fetal education music, and a community forum for pregnant women, effectively combining popular science education with clinical services.

In-depth collaboration with multiple hospitals; Yunbao will continue to enhance its product features.
Yunbao’s partner hospitals include West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University (hereinafter referred to as “West China Second Hospital”), the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital, and the General Hospital of the Chengdu Military Command. Li Yongfeng stated that Yunbao is the first app in China to establish partnerships with maternal and child health hospitals. To date, user-generated posts within the West China Second Hospital discussion community on Yunbao have reached 120,000. Currently, Yunbao’s user base is primarily concentrated in the Sichuan region, and the company plans to gradually expand its collaborations with hospitals in other provinces.
Going forward, the company will continue to enhance the product features of Yunbao, expedite collaborations with more hospitals across China, and provide users with superior medical service support.
