YuMeiKe is a product designed for aesthetic medicine physicians, helping them realize their entrepreneurial dreams with “zero cost.” Through YuMeiKe, aesthetic medicine physicians can manage patients and communicate directly with them, thereby enhancing work efficiency. It also enables a referral-based medical practice model and provides a channel for precise patient acquisition, offering an integrated solution for efficient professional practice.
Currently, the medical aesthetics transaction platform and the “cloud clinic + pharmaceutical e-commerce mall + public surgical platform” ecosystem built by Yumeike have begun operations. According to data provided by the company, there have been 120 registered doctors on the Yumeike platform within one month of its launch. Its first public surgical platform in Beijing has been completed and has facilitated over 100 surgeries. Furthermore, the second platform in Beijing has been launched and is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2016. Platforms outside Beijing are also under preparation. The founder and CEO of Yumeike stated that by the end of 2018, Yumeike will complete the construction of 30 to 50 standardized chain medical aesthetics public surgical platforms across China.
Fewer than 20,000 Aesthetic Medicine Physicians: How Can the RMB 800 Billion Market Be Absorbed?
“Aesthetic physicians are the swordsmen who wield beauty (the origin of the name ‘Yu Mei Ke’), while users who choose aesthetic procedures are the masters of their own charm.” In response to a reporter’s question, the founder told VCBeat that the product was named “Yu Mei Ke” to reflect its mission of serving those who master beauty. The underlying rationale is to address the pain point of an imperfect regulatory framework in the current aesthetic medicine market, thereby better serving and empowering aesthetic physicians, and thus contributing to the overall advancement of the aesthetic medicine industry.
Data shows that there are currently more than 10,000 medical aesthetic institutions in China, along with numerous unlicensed aesthetic studios. In 2015, the medical aesthetics industry reached RMB 400 billion, growing at an annual rate of approximately 30%. The number of domestic plastic surgery procedures amounted to as many as seven million. It is projected that by 2019, China’s plastic and cosmetic surgery industry will achieve a market size of RMB 800 billion, potentially surpassing countries and regions such as the United States and Brazil.
However, the regulatory framework for China’s medical aesthetics market remains incomplete. Persistent issues such as unauthorized expansion of services beyond licensed business scopes, employment of personnel without medical practice qualifications, exaggerated claims regarding treatment outcomes, and unclear sourcing of medical consumables continue to plague the industry. These problems have also led to a lack of proper understanding among consumers regarding medical aesthetics practitioners, procedures, and service facilities. Consequently, this has fostered and exacerbated the growth of unlicensed clinics, undermined the interests of physicians in public hospitals, and adversely affected the cultivation of talent within the industry.
Specifically, the inadequacies of the market regulatory system in the medical aesthetics industry are mainly reflected in two aspects:
First, information opacity. This primarily includes the lack of transparency regarding physician resources and service pricing. The opacity of physician resource information is manifested in users’ inability to assess physicians’ clinical competence in specific services, due to the absence of an objective evaluation mechanism for physicians. Meanwhile, the opacity of service pricing is mainly caused by improper marketing strategies in the market. Excessively high prices harm consumers’ interests, while excessively low prices detrimentally affect both consumers’ and physicians’ interests.
Second, the market system for medical aesthetics operates on a pricing mechanism determined by market forces, making it the medical specialty most closely aligned with market dynamics. This autonomous pricing structure has resulted in a situation where public hospitals lack high-quality services, while private hospitals suffer from a shortage of professional medical talent. Consequently, patients struggle to find medical aesthetic institutions that offer both superior service and safety, and many excellent physicians lose opportunities to access patients and expand their market presence. Furthermore, the career development path for medical aesthetic physicians has become distorted. Senior physicians are overwhelmed with patient volumes, whereas junior attending physicians have few patients, which severely hinders the cultivation of talent within the industry.
“Every entrepreneur must consider where their strengths lie.” As a senior physician in the medical aesthetics industry, the founder of Yumeike has a deeper understanding of industry practitioners and pain points than outsiders, allowing her to more readily identify these issues in her professional and personal life. “In healthcare, the scarcest resource is physicians; the industry lacks excellent doctors.” The founder of Yumeike noted that in China, fewer than 20,000 doctors are available to provide services to users, yet they support a market size exceeding RMB 800 billion within the industry chain.
Driven by a confluence of factors, the founder of Yumeike resolved to transform the status quo and empower aesthetic medicine physicians to realize their entrepreneurial aspirations.
In early 2015, the Yumeike project was officially established.

The Platform Empowers Physicians to Practice Independently
“In internet healthcare projects, the internet serves primarily as a tool; at its core, it remains a healthcare initiative. Therefore, internet healthcare must adhere to the fundamental logic of medical practice.” Regarding the future of “Internet + Medical Aesthetics,” the founder of Yumeike predicts that this will undoubtedly be a physician-centric market. In the future, physicians will proactively build their personal brands to attract patients and create value. Consequently, aesthetic medicine physicians will inevitably require corresponding team support and clinical facilities.
In her view, it is no easy feat for aesthetic medicine physicians to independently deliver team-based services and establish their own medical facilities. “It is very difficult for physicians to set up their own surgical centers. On one hand, it requires substantial capital investment; on the other, it demands a robust management team and marketing team. However, many physicians lack managerial experience and capabilities, as well as initial capital accumulation. This constitutes a significant barrier preventing many physicians from launching their own ventures.”
Guided by this vision, the founder of Yumeike led the team to embark on their entrepreneurial journey by developing a standardized public surgical platform for physicians and a mobile app designed as a flexible tool for freelance practitioners.
Currently, Yumeike’s online offerings include mobile applications for both physicians and patients, as well as a self-developed hospital management system that integrates online and offline operations. Its offline component consists of a physical shared surgical platform.
Yumeike’s public surgical platform will be open to qualified multi-site practice physicians who have passed certification and practical assessments, enabling them to access standardized operating rooms, professional medical support staff, and high-quality pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
The founder told VCBeat, “The most critical aspect of medical projects is the safety of clinical workflows. Standardization is a key component of risk control; without building our own infrastructure, we cannot ensure standardization across the entire process. We aim to contribute to the standardized development of physical healthcare entities across the industry, ensuring more rigorous design standards and providing physicians with safe, compliant, and efficient surgical centers.”
In standardizing surgical centers, Yumeike holds certain advantages. First, the team has prior experience in successfully building and operating surgical centers. Second, Yumeike boasts a well-trained medical service team that encompasses professionals ranging from hospital designers and medical device suppliers to nursing staff, physician assistants, and customer service representatives.
It is reported that Yumeike’s public surgical platform was designed and constructed in strict accordance with the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s regulations for medical aesthetic institutions, incorporating advanced design expertise from Japan and the United States.
The founder of Yumeike stated, “We will incorporate training features into our surgical platform to facilitate on-site instruction for junior physicians, and we also plan to offer remote live video streaming capabilities.”
Currently, physicians using the Yumeike platform are all licensed medical practitioners qualified to perform surgeries. “Our users can be categorized into three groups,” stated the founder of Yumeike. The first group comprises authoritative experts who never lack patients. The second consists of established attending physicians who have already built their personal brands and patient acquisition channels on Haodaifu Online or other internet healthcare platforms. The third group includes young aesthetic medicine physicians, who primarily seek academic advancement through the platform.
