mPulse Mobile, a provider of mobile health solutions headquartered in Encino, California, has secured a $725,000 investment from the Health Innovation Fund under the California Healthcare Foundation (CHCF), as reported by MobiHealthNews. This brings the company’s total funding to $14 million.
The California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) is dedicated to providing healthcare services to the people of California, particularly those with low incomes and individuals who lack access to medical care. The organization aims to ensure that Californians can obtain essential healthcare services at affordable prices by partnering with healthcare companies.
mPulse spun off from the mobile communications company mobileStorm one year ago. Specializing in the healthcare sector, mPulse was formerly mobileStorm’s fastest-growing division. mPulse’s messaging products primarily serve a wide range of healthcare institutions and stakeholders, including patients, pharmacies, suppliers, and medical device companies.
Practitioners of Big Data in Healthcare
mPulse Mobile has developed a cloud-based smartphone messaging solution. Its pre-configured messaging workflows address significant challenges faced by many pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers, such as missed appointments, medication errors, and disease management. The service focuses on integrating system databases with personalized data to enhance message relevance.
In terms of product functionality, the company supports secure push notifications and self-service features, enabling users to check account balances or receive various other reminders. This not only reduces operational costs but also enhances user satisfaction. For physicians, real-time communication with scheduled patients significantly improves work efficiency, reduces no-show rates, and offers greater flexibility. For pharmaceutical companies, the solution helps customers analyze and manage their health conditions, prevents medication errors, and maximizes therapeutic efficacy.
mPulse has served more than 50 medical institutions
Jared Teo, an executive at the Health Innovation Fund, stated, “The adoption of mobile communication for health management is essential for California’s low-income population under Medicaid. mPulse has already served more than 50 healthcare institution clients. Its health programs help individuals better manage their health through SMS, the most familiar communication channel for most people.”
“mPulse enables us to communicate with hard-to-reach populations and engage them in their health management, which lies at the core of our corporate strategy. We are delighted to partner with CHCF, as this collaboration will further advance our strategic objectives and allow us to serve a broader population,” said Chris Nicholson, CEO of mPulse.
In February and March of this year, mPulse raised over $11.65 million in its Series A financing round, having previously secured $1.7 million in seed funding. The Series A investors included HLM Venture Partners, OCA Ventures, Merrick Ventures, Jumpstart Ventures, Rincon Venture Partners, Cambia Health Solutions, and eonCapital. These funds will help mPulse further enhance its analytical capabilities and technology, while continuing to penetrate and expand its consumer healthcare market.
