Jun 12, 2016 16:56 CST Updated 16:56

Recently, the Chinese Obstetrics and Gynecology Network launched the “Wo Medical Academy,” a training institute dedicated to physician brand development. It is reported that the academy commenced its courses on June 7. The first semester’s curriculum primarily focuses on medical technical training and social influence training. Established jointly by the Wo Yi Obstetrics and Gynecology Renowned Physicians Group, Hyacinth Private Physicians for Women and Children, and the Chinese Obstetrics and Gynecology Network, Wo Medical Academy has become a key training base for obstetricians and gynecologists seeking to build their personal brands.

In recent years, the rapid development of “Internet + Healthcare” has not only transformed people’s healthcare consumption habits and doctor-patient communication patterns, but also spurred the introduction of policies allowing physicians to practice at multiple sites and engage in independent practice, as well as the establishment of physician groups. Whether through mobile health platforms or physician groups, healthcare platforms in the internet era have enabled an increasing number of patients to locate physicians for consultations or treatment based on their social influence. There is a growing public demand for trustworthy physician brands, while physicians themselves need to build their own distinctive personal brands to enhance their professional influence. The construction of physician brands has become a crucial component driving healthcare reform and transforming the doctor-patient relationship system.

It is understood that Wo Medical College is a physician brand development and training academy jointly established by the Wo Medical Group of Renowned Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Hyacinth Private Physicians for Women and Children, and China Obstetrics & Gynecology Network. With a mission to promote and popularize high-quality healthcare, Wo Medical College is dedicated to the continuous training and professional growth of physicians in the industry. By leveraging the specialized expertise and resources of top-tier obstetrics and gynecology experts, the college aims to comprehensively enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities of primary-care OB/GYN practitioners, thereby helping physicians achieve greater self-worth and social value.

Dr. Gong Xiaoming, founder of China Obstetrics and Gynecology Network and Hyacinth – Private Physician for Women and Children, as well as co-founder of the Woyi Group of Renowned Obstetricians and Gynecologists, stated in a lecture on “Brand Physicians” that building a physician’s brand is an inevitable trend in the era of “Internet Plus.” Brand physicians not only realize their own professional value but also hold profound significance for advancing healthcare system reform. Dr. Gong emphasized that the core issue in building a physician’s brand lies in establishing the values of a good physician and gaining public recognition. Excellent medical expertise and continuous self-improvement form the foundation of being a good physician. Meanwhile, leveraging internet tools—such as publishing popular science articles and providing consultations via mobile health platforms—to enhance a physician’s social influence can positively accelerate the dissemination and recognition of brand physicians.
