Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), also known as Han Medicine, originated in primitive society. By the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, its theoretical framework had basically taken shape, accompanied by the emergence of anatomical knowledge and medical specialization. In the 1990s, the TCM community initiated original innovations and a revolution in the foundational theories of modern TCM. The uniqueness of TCM’s comprehensive theoretical system lies in its emphasis on the concepts of “unity between heaven and humanity” and “correspondence between heaven and humanity.” Consequently, when diagnosing and treating the same disease, TCM prioritizes individualized treatment plans tailored to specific times, locations, and patients, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Furthermore, TCM posits that all tissues and organs of the human body exist within a unified entity, interacting and influencing each other both physiologically and pathologically. Therefore, TCM approaches disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment from a holistic perspective, emphasizing the “holistic concept.” The diagnostic and therapeutic modalities of TCM include Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping therapy, and the Four Diagnostic Methods.
In recent years, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine has launched the “Preventive Treatment of Disease” Health Project, designating 46 pilot units across 17 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) to promote a range of methods, technologies, and equipment for “preventive treatment of disease” services. Meanwhile, some TCM hospitals offer services such as “treating winter diseases in summer” and herbal paste prescriptions. Surveys indicate that 53% of hypertension cases have received TCM interventions, while TCM-related content accounts for 70% of health education materials.
The latest national survey on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) indicates that approximately 60% of medical institutions in China are capable of providing TCM services. Various types of medical institutions (excluding village clinics) deliver around 700 million TCM outpatient visits and approximately 13.57 million TCM inpatient admissions annually, accounting for 20% and 16% of the total outpatient and inpatient services provided by all medical institutions, respectively. The ratio of patients receiving TCM treatment to those receiving Western medicine treatment is approximately 1:4. This demonstrates a substantial market demand for TCM in China.
According to the 2009 Survey Report on the Basic Status of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the top ten dominant conditions treated in TCM hospitals, ranked by annual outpatient and emergency visits, include stroke (cerebral infarction), low back pain (lumbar disc herniation), neck bi syndrome (cervical spondylosis), xiao-ke disease (diabetes mellitus), vertigo (hypertension), epigastric pain (chronic gastritis), chest bi with heart pain (coronary heart disease), cough, infertility, and liver diseases. Some of these conditions are common chronic diseases. Currently, a large number of patients with chronic diseases choose TCM for diagnosis and treatment. Given the prolonged nature of chronic disease management, patients require regular follow-up visits at set intervals. For patients, the limited number of TCM hospitals results in a mismatch between patient demand and medical resources. For physicians, it is challenging to manage such a large patient population.

When discussing the original intention behind starting the business, Lin Tao, CEO of Liudu Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), stated, “I have interacted with numerous TCM practitioners and understand their pain points. I aim to help them carry out medical practice more conveniently, realize their personal value, and build their professional brands. In TCM medical services, the most critical relationship is between the physician and the patient, rather than between the institution and the patient. Physicians are more important than institutions, or at least should engage in an equal partnership.”ApplicationPhysicians ThemselvesofSkill ValueComeCreating Economic Value, Driving Change“Funding Healthcare Through Drug Sales”industry malpractices。“I aim to improve the current state of the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry through dedicated efforts and drive its development.”
In late 2009, Lin Tao and a group of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) enthusiasts established the TCM Radish Association in Nanjing. The TCM Radish Association is a non-profit social organization dedicated to disseminating and promoting TCM culture, philosophy, and methodologies. Its membership comprises scholars from TCM universities, hospital experts, publishing professionals, and others. In August 2012, the association completed its official registration. Currently, the TCM Radish Association has branches in 33 cities across China, as well as overseas chapters in Boston (USA), Manchester (UK), Singapore, and Malaysia, with a total membership of approximately 300,000. Li Shizhen noted in Compendium of Materia Medica that radishes can “strongly descend qi, aid digestion, harmonize the middle jiao, and eliminate pathogenic heat.” A core philosophy advocated by the TCM Radish Association is to simplify life and engage in practical, down-to-earth actions.
