For millennial first-time parents, the period following their baby’s birth is inevitably marked by a certain degree of chaos and disarray. The Qidu Health team has been consistently exploring how technology can help these new parents navigate this challenging phase.

Qidu Health is a subsidiary of Shenzhen Jizhi Network Service Co., Ltd. The team’s primary focus is currently on designing and manufacturing a suite of intelligent hardware and software solutions for monitoring infant health. It is reported that Qidu Health has already launched a patch-style smart thermometer capable of continuous temperature monitoring and fever alerts.

Data shows that China currently has 100 million infants and young children aged 0–6, most of whose parents are post-80s generations with a high level of internet acceptance. These individuals constitute the target customer base for Qidu Health.

The patch-type smart thermometer produced by Qidu Health consists of two parts: a mobile app and a medical-grade silicone patch. The patch measures 32mm x 52mm x 4mm, complying with national child safety standards against swallowing. It features an imported chip from Dialog, an Apple supplier, ensuring rapid and stable measurements. The patch employs a professional medical-grade temperature sensor, with a measurement error of only ±0.05°C. Made from soft, food-grade, skin-friendly silicone, the patch is flexible and conforms comfortably to the skin, providing long-lasting comfort without pain upon removal.

Furthermore, the button cell battery used in the product has a capacity of 1,000 hours. Assuming that a child aged 0–5 years experiences fever three times per year, with each episode lasting 3–5 days, the product can be used continuously for three years.

Lin Youxian, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Qidu Health, described the following scenario to VCBeat: During episodes of fever in infants and young children, parents often need to wake up multiple times to take their baby’s temperature, significantly disrupting the sleep quality of both parents and child. With this thermometer, parents simply need to download a mobile app, attach a medical-grade silicone patch to the baby’s axilla, and set an alert threshold on their phone. Once the temperature exceeds the preset level, the phone will issue an alarm. Furthermore, Qidu Health generates a temperature log for the child, which can be shared with physicians when needed to facilitate more precise diagnosis and treatment.

On June 1, 2016, the patch-style smart thermometer began its crowdfunding campaign on Taobao. By the 17th day of the campaign, the total amount raised had surpassed RMB 1 million.

Currently, Qidu Health's business model can be categorized into the following four types:

1. Collaborate with B-side products to serve as the front-end interface for acquiring human body temperature data. Future collaborative partners include Qidu Health, along with products such as “Health Joy,” “Scientific Mom,” and “Youbao Technology.”

2. Provide the acquired body temperature data to insurance companies and attempt to establish collaborations with the insurance sector.

3. Further collaborate with distributors to accelerate the expansion of domestic sales channels.

4. Qidu Health is expected to obtain FDA and CE certifications in September 2016, after which the team will further expand into the North American and European markets.

Regarding pricing, Qidu Health’s patch-style smart thermometer is relatively affordable. Lin Youxian stated, “This approach not only achieves the effect of high sales volume with low profit margins but also facilitates data collection for analysis, providing doctors or parents with information that enables more convenient diagnosis for children.”
