Zhangshang Tangyi Launches Community-Based Diabetes Care Centers to Advance Integrated Online-Offline Chronic Disease Management

Following its collaboration with the Beijing Diabetes Association on a diabetes "peer" management program, Zhangshang Tangyi has once again embarked on the path of practicing localized diabetes management. On July 12, the Zhangshang Tangyi Diabetes Community Cooperative Service Center was officially unveiled and put into operation in Suzhou.Mr. Kuang Ming, CEO of Palm Sugar Doctor, and Ms. Zhang Yuqin, Chief Medical Officer, along with other distinguished guests, attended the listing ceremony. The newly established Palm Sugar Doctor Diabetes Community Cooperation Service Center aims to connect with primary healthcare institutions, facilitate daily medical access for community residents, and provide patients with higher-quality, professional medical services.

Registration takes 10 minutes, queuing lasts two hours, and medication pickup requires half an hour, yet the doctor’s consultation lasts only three minutes. This situation has been described by some as the “three longs and one short” phenomenon, a distinctive feature of outpatient services in Chinese hospitals. With the growing number of diabetes patients and relatively scarce medical resources, patients face persistent challenges during regular follow-up visits, including prolonged registration and waiting times, limited consultation duration, and a lack of timely and comprehensive guidance on self-health management after leaving the hospital. In stark contrast, primary healthcare resources remain underutilized.

Mr. Kuang Ming, CEO of Zhangshang Tangyi, also candidly admitted that the current number of diabetic patients in China and the level of health education among residents have determined that the “asset-light” model of previous internet-based healthcare services cannot deliver sufficient medical service value to patients (users). The Zhangshang Tangyi Diabetes Community Cooperative Service Center,Qiaqia addresses many challenges patients face in medical consultations, follow-up visits, and daily health management through its integrated online-to-offline diabetes health management services.

Nowadays, residents can access professional medical consultations for diabetes at nearby Palm Diabetes Community Cooperation Service Centers, eliminating the need to endure long queues and time-consuming visits for regular check-ups. Following in-person consultations at the center, patients can easily engage in online management with their treating physicians through the Palm Diabetes management service platform, while also gaining access to a variety of targeted professional health management services.

The establishment of the Palm Sugar Doctor Diabetes Community Cooperation Service Center ensures, on one hand, the comprehensiveness of patient health education and management. Through integrated online and offline diabetes management services, patients can monitor their health status in real time, maintain continuous blood glucose control, and effectively manage disease progression. On the other hand, the inherent locality of medical services is mutually complementary to the internet-enabled, network-wide dissemination of knowledge and resource matching.

To establish a closed-loop healthcare system, any entry point will ultimately lead to the implementation of an “asset-heavy” model. The establishment of service centers is a critical step for Zhangshang Tangyi (Pocket Diabetes Doctor) to achieve online-offline integration and serves as a robust complement to its online services. Regardless of whether the approach is online or offline, or asset-light versus asset-heavy, Zhangshang Tangyi’s strategy consistently revolves around optimizing patient education and management while delivering superior medical services to patients. It is reported that Zhangshang Tangyi’s convenient medical service network already covers nearly 1,000 communities across China and may expand to nearly 10,000 communities by the end of the year.
